Digital car insurance

Has anyone had a problem with showing digital car insurance on their phone if you’re stopped in Europe as opposed to a physical copy?

I must admit I didn't realised there was such a thing! Is it not possible to print parts of the document.

Ditto, I hold details on my tablet, but print off the important pages.

I‘ve never been asked for details of my insurance anywhere unless involved in an accident. Whenever checks were carried out it has only been the driving licence and vehicle registration documents.

@Lutz as you said anywhere, in the UK you can be stopped by the police (for no reason) and be asked for your driving licence, insurance certificate, and MOT certificate if the car is over three year old. It is not an offence not to have them as you can produce then at a police station within seven days.

They will probably have it all on their system anyway. It's very easy here for anyone to check a car's MOT, tax and insurance, so if I can do it I'm sure the police can.

Thanks for filling me in on what is required in the UK, but as the question was raised in the Overseas section of this forum I assumed that the OP was referring specifically to travel abroad.

I keep all insurance documentation in the "cloud" so it is accessible from anywhere you can get on the internet. I only print of certificates of insurance to carry in the vehicle but when travelling on the Continent, I include the V5 and MOT certificates. I have had to produce these on a few occasions.

My pleasure but as you posted anywhere and you have driven in the UK I assumed you were including the UK in anywhere.

Being able to produce a copy of an MOT certificate may be of some help when touring abroad, but it’s not a requirement. The authorities abroad can set their own standards when it comes to what they consider to be an unsafe vehicle, regardless of any MOT certificate. Besides, the certificate does not have an internationally recognisable format so anyone without knowledge of English would not know what to do with it anyway.
