I recently had to cancel a forthcoming stay at a site in Portugal. As it was for a long stay I had paid a substantial deposit and insured the entire booking through a Portuguese company. Within minutes of advising the site of my need to cancel I received their cancellation document a copy of which they had also sent to the insurers. The insurer immediately contacted me asking for certain information supporting my claim and named my dedicated claims manager. My reply was a little delayed as I initially had to translate the language. Within a few hours of sending them the documents I received a reply in English stating the claim had been sent to a senior manager for approval and on day three the refund was in my bank. No nit picking, no delays, no irrelevant questions, only swift helpful service at a difficult time. Such a contrast with my experiences with UK based insurers

    Bearing in mind that this cover was all in Euros I have just received notification of a little bonus. My UK bank sent me a letter to say that they had processed the refund FOC. In addition the insurer had paid / covered the charge made by their bank so I received the full payment. No deductions. Gritchen Affinity will certainly be getting my busy in future.

    For "busy" read "business". A different computer keyboard. At least that is my excuse 😃.

    Thanks for sharing the insurance details @LLM . It looks like they have marketing links with a number of camping chains. They have certainly given you exceptional service.
