MAYDAY (Green Flag) Recovery after an accident
Time to review my rescue cover. Have used Green Flag for ages. Looked carefully at AA product but it is clear that it does NOT offer Recovery after an accident.
IMO opinion Green Flag (MAYDAY) doesn't either in terms of their policy but it is ambiguous. However they advised me verbally that they would recover.
In many circumstances a full blown recovery after an accident would involve insurers but in a minor incident such as a mirror strike you might not be safe to drive but might not want to make a claim. Anyone have any relevant experience or comment ?

I believe insurers require you to notify ANY accident whether you claim or not. So that would include something like a mirror hit that rendered the vehicle undrivable. Can't help on the recovery side. Interesting post here regarding MayDay service yesterday.

Yes Bakers2 you are absolutely correct. At renewal you will be asked to declare any accidents or losses , fault or non fault claim or non claim. The underwriters (or their computer algorithm) will then consider how the event affects your risk profile. It may or may not result in an increased premium but should not if you made a full recovery from a third party. The reason why I might not claim in a minor matter is because if there is no claim it won't affect your no-claim discount and might not affect your premium (but thats only half the story because a discount of a higher premium still costs more). Incidentally bear in mind that a claim for a motor caravan will also have a potential rating effect on your car insurance.
