If it ain’t broke…..

The new Club Together is virtually unusable for me. Click on a discussion - nothing. Come on CAMC, instead of spending God knows what on glamping pods, spend a little time and money on the Club IT systems. Spend some money on hiring competent IT staff that can design and run a reliable, intuitive and user-friendly system that doesn’t require those of us who are a little bit older to go back to university for a degree. I used to use it quite a lot, now, it’s so dreadful I feel I have been shut out. Thanks CAMC.

@CartledgeWhat device are you using to access CT. I know OH’s old iPad mini would not run it. Unfortunately the platform that the club use to host the new version required a more up to date pad.

@Cartledge I have found it really easy to use and user friendly. I have a 6th generation iPad which is a few years old now but works fine, apart from a bit of a hiccup at the beginning when changing a password. A couple of weeks ago it had an upgrade which caused my photo icon to disappear but that has been resolved now. Perhaps email the Club IT department and maybe they can talk you through it? It is quite simple so maybe it’s something you could be missing. Just a thought.

@Cartledge might be useful to tell us what system you are using? It is a bit different to the old system but most seem to be managing OK. I certainly don't have any issue using my Windows PC, I have not really tried it on my phone or tablet as I prefer the larger screen.

David, you say that most seem to be managing it OK, but hardly a day goes by without someone commenting that they have a problem with the CMHC site in some way or another and many of them seem to be people who are reasonably OK with computers. Most of us have had some sort of communication with other companies over the internet, yet we don't have problems with them as many of us do with the Club. I like many aspects of the Club, but their IT system is definitely not one of them!

@Cartledge you have successfully had a really good moan on here, so take that as a positive😁 Assuming you don’t have access issues, all you really need to do is have a good look around, glance through the Introduction to the new CT thread, which has lots of advice about how to do things, and then simply give things a go. It’s laid out differently, but is in fact easy to navigate to different sections and places once you get used to it, and things like posing photos, creating links, directly responding to someone (tagging) is a whole lot easier. There are anomalies with one or two types of device, but work arounds can be found. Simply ask for help with anything you are trying to do, and someone will help I am sure.👍

Hi @Cartledge sorry to hear you're having issues. Feel free to email me communitymanager@camc.com with the device and browser you are using and I will report this to the forum support team. I've not had any other reports of issues regarding discussions so might be device and browser related.

Never had any problem either. Also all fine on my phone and tablet.

hardly a day… is a rather a great exaggeration in my view. I think this one from @Cartledge is the first one one in a while? I've looked back about two weeks (then stopped) and I couldn't find any others? Please let me know if I've missed any?
When there are are problems it appears to be device and browser related.

@vbfg I appreciate that we are all blinded by our own experience of things, including me! Because I have not suffered any difficulties its easy for me to think everything is OK. Because I don't have any issues its more difficult for me to understand why others do. This is not helped by people saying they have an issue but not giving full details of what they are using to use the forum. When the new forum was first introduced there were quite a few people singing its praises which makes it even difficult to understand why there are issues. The people that run the forum (not the Club) will no doubt have tested it on various platforms. I suspect it works best on a computer based system be that Windows or Apple but maybe not so well on smaller devices particularly with older operating systems? That is why it is important that people mention the system they are using so that Rowena can go back with specifics.

@Cartledge - it would be useful if you could let us know exactly what problems you were having - then we could help you. It can't be simply accessing CT - because as @TimboC points out, you have done just that to submit your OP. I, along with a few others, was involved in the testing of the new platform and we did submit a lot of observations - most of which were acted upon. By far the biggest improvement in my opinion, was the ability to post pictures without having to mess about re-sizing them and I think the popularity of that one change alone is evidenced by the obvious increase in the number of pics posted - which makes the website much more colourful and interesting. Yes - there have been a few glitches along the way - but the ability to tag @Rowena has meant that these have been resolved far quicker than in the past.
