Riverside location, somewhere within walking distance of a village and warm.

Edit - That's strange, my comment for other has come up but not my vote.

No one specific location type. It’s more about being where we want to visit. Needs to have safe walks available from the campsite a nearby bus stop would be nice, but not essential.

We know and love one particular village in Provence. The campsite in the very heart of the village is old, simple, basic, old fashioned and cramped - it fits none of the categories listed, but is our all time favourite. Location, location, etc.

Don't really have one, I prefer to explore places new, if we do return to the same place/area over and over it is because we are visiting friends/relatives. Put these both together and Cornwall and Spain are my top destinations especially the latter because of the anticipated temperatures and sunshine which are more conducive to an outdoor life.

As others have said we too don't have a specific type of pitch location that would be "favourite". Depending what we wanted to do, where the nearest pitch was located, the time of year then all of the mentioned types could be our favourite at least until the next time we wanted to go away.

On tours lasting several weeks all of the types could be used..

The conclusion is therefore that we do not choose the pitch first but last. As long as its functional for our needs that is all that matters.

    Beach escape

I voted Beach, but it comes with caveats…………only if it’s a tiny campsite, CL size, has a long walk to get to it, and it gets very few visitors! Heaven. Don’t even mind swimming in the rain🤭

We are like WN and others, we don’t choose the campsite first, but the location.

no particular preference. Don’t go to a site for the site, or very very rarely. Need a small quiet site, where we want to be. Hardly ever been to the same site twice.

Best of all is back home and pitched in yard beside house.

We, like many others, choose sites to suit where we want to be, as long as they are relatively peaceful and have decent footpaths or tracks, or quite roads where we can walk our dog. Forests, beaches, moorlands all feature but seldom do urban sites.

For us too it depends on where we want to be, the site is just a base from which to explore or visit friends.

There are a few where we have stayed twice or more, but mainly we prefer to try new sites.

Anywhere for us, no bus stop or lack of a village would be a bonus.
