Water pressure - that eternal question

I've got a 2003 Swift Challenger 490LSE which we've had since 2007. The water pressure from the Whale external pump is… average, to be fair. It's alright, but shower? Forget it! I've changed the pump for a Whale Hi-Flo twice, with no noticeable benefit, so have to accept what we've got. Can't see any kinks in the pipes or anything obvious, and the voltage is OK.

Recently, I was away with my brother, he's got a 2011 Sprite Alpine, and I couldn't help noticing how much better his water pressure is. His system has an internal pump and I believe is driven via a pressure switch. You can even have a reasonable shower, although he finds it better using two Aquarolls to ensure his partner can rinse that shampoo off! I'm jealous, although not enough to buy his caravan off him.

So, is it worth installing a similar system to his Sprite (I'm quite capable DIY wise), or is there a better submersible pump I haven't found yet? I know it's a bit petty, but I might just be missing something.

Derek - the first thing I did after we took delivery of our van was to change both pumps (inboard tank and Aquaroll) to Whale Hi-Flo's. Reich and Truma ones were fitted previously - and it made a vast difference to both the pressure and the flow rate. I would say that our shower in the van is almost as good as those at home - and we have a pressurised hot water system at home! I also fitted an Ecocamel shower head which didn't make a vast difference to the pressure but it did improve it a bit.

I do wonder if there is a blockage in the system if the pressure is that low.

Thanks for the replies, folks. I shall try fitting another Whale Hi-Flo pump, as the last one's a few years old now and it seems to be the best of the bunch, but you're right, it seems there might be a blockage. Time to go right through the plumbing and give it a good blow-through. Cheers.

@Derek When we change caravans and went from an external pump to an internal one (a Sprite) we didn't notice any difference in pressure in any tap.
