Any Computer Whizz Kids Out There?
Had a strange experience a few days ago. I had a long email sent to me from Virgin Media. I saw that it had arrived on my phone and had a brief look at it whilst I was out and about. At home I opened my tablet and saw that the email was there on Outlook but didn't look at it at the time. When I went back to it it had vanished. I looked back at my phone and it had also vanished from that as well.
The way I've set up my emails is that they come in to my Virgin server from there they are sent to Outlook and Outlook sends a copy to Gmail. I went right back to Virgin and it had gone from there as well. I checked the Bin in case it had somehow got deleted. Wasn't there either.
Can anyone explain what might have been going on for it to be deleted from 2 known locations and probably a third (Virgin)?
What has made it worse is that I phoned Virgin to explain the problem and asked them to send it again as, from what I briefly read, it contained some important information. They said they couldn't!!

Two immediate possibilities spring to mind. Firstly has the email been deleted at source? As it seems to be a genuine email that would seem unlikely. Secondly has it ended up in your junk/trash folder? I do use GMail on my phone and I have noticed emails only stay visible for so long but that is months rather than days.
On my PC and Laptop I use the Outlook email client that comes with Microsoft Office rather than the web based Outlook. That sort of protects me from messages being deleted at source.

My guess is that when looking at the mail on your phone you accidentally swiped it to "Archive" which would have sent it to the Gmail "All Mail" folder. After that depending on the various settings you have in your email travel chain - Virgin-Outlook-Gmail - it was auto deleted by Virgin and Outlook.
