Towing and vehicle load

Hi,

I’m a new member and new to caravans, so looking for a spot of advice.

I’ll be towing my caravan with a Vauxhall Movano. According to the VIN plate this vehicle has a MAM of 3,500kg and a gross train weight of 6,000kg. The caravan is well within the towing limits.

My simple mind interprets this to mean that I can fully load my Movano up to its MAM of 3,500kg, taking into account the weight of the hitch and the additional load on the rear axle, and still tow a caravan weighing up to 2,500kg. (My caravan has a MTPLM of 1,600kg, so well under that.)

In reality I’m unlikely to ever be near the 3,500kg MAM of the Movano, but I’m one for wanting to know the details.

Is this correct?

Thanks for your help.🙂

Yes, correct. As long as you don’t exceed those axle weights, GVW and GTW, or the MTPLM of the caravan, all will be well weightwise.
