Hello

Has anyone driven their van into Turkey recently? We are planning to go in the next few weeks.  I have heard conflicting advice about customs duty on vehicles driven in to Turkey.  Some say you have to pay a lot of money on entering the country, but all I can find on line seems to refer to importing your vehicle as a temporary resident.  But I can find nothing on line to say that duty is NOT payable by tourists going for a few weeks.  I would really appreciate advice from someone who has been recently?

Many thanks

Charles

Have a look at Tread the Globe.  They spent a long time in Turkey with their MH over lockdown

Not sure how many on here have ventured as far as Turkey but may I suggest to look out for the Roaming Radfords YouTube channel as they are/or were in Turkey at the moment. I have not seen all their videos on that country but they have quite a large (new) motorhome and I did notice they have had difficulties getting their van onto some sites due to access. They also encountered long queues at the border to get in!

I have just been reading the Off Grid Odyssey.com website which has a very  detailed description of the border crossing procedure from Bulgaria into Turkey. It does not mention having to pay customs duty, but does cover motor insurance requirements in detail.
