awning skirt rail removal

I have a leaky Bailly Genoa to try and investigate this I want to remove the awning skirt rail , it looks as if this is on a strip fastened to the bottom of the van I am afraid to force it off in case I pull the whole lot off the side of the Van 

Any advice would be welcome
