Romania and Bulgaria entering the Schengen

Bad news for those long term travellers to  Europe, Romania and Bulgaria are partially joining the Schengen Zone on the 31st of March, which will count towards your 90 days.

We managed 144 days in Europe last year by using both those countries, which we can thoroughly recommend visiting especially Romania.

    I thought that certainly Bulgaria it was only via air access so if you entered by road you would still leave Schengen.

    Got this from GOV.UK Bulgaria travel advise :-

    From 31 March 2024 if you’re travelling to Bulgaria (and all other Schengen countries) without a visa, make sure your whole visit to the Schengen area is within the 90-day limit.

    Same advise for Romania.
