Purely my opinion, and saying how we are finding things, but we are finding Club sites way too expensive for us these days.

Am I not allowed to say that?

Of course you are, and its your choice as to where you book in order to continue your hobby, but to suggest that others are oblivious to price rises is unfair.

The site tonight is as far as I can see in pretty full apart from the two grass pitches right in front of us. In fact only one has been used once in the past week.

Of course you are but you're not just saying that are you? you appear to be speaking for us:

'We feel that those who use  exclusively  Club sites, which is of course up to them, are probably saying it is OK for the Club to hike up prices as much as they wish, they will still pay them'

I do think that those who have a higher income and can afford Club prices, are not really considering those who cannot.  And that by not saying that  prices are too high they are saying these prices are OK.

As I said, we could afford the prices,     but for a much shorter  trip, but as we value our time away, we choose not to pay silly prices but  to use alternatives.

Happy to use our on board facilities, in fact we prefer to do so as OH has special needs,   CLs fit us very well.

Our daughter and family are using our caravan a few times a year, and they are finding commercial sites, in school holidays, with fully serviced pitches, and better facilities, that are less expensive than Club sites

As this thread is for 'Late Availability' thought I'd just post that we are currently at Cayton Village where there are only 31 of 100 pitches occupied on the Upper Site, with plenty of availability on the Main Site.....

    See my post here: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/uk-sites-touring/let-battle-commence/?er=P841101#P841101

There is a Pitches available sign out daily, so at this rate I could phone up to check a few days in advance, turn up & pay & to hell with any deposit system..... wink

But as you often post and give numerous examples of how and why there are better and cheaper sites out than club sites? Often citing better facilities for children, service pitches for far less, better bigger pitches, far cheaper, far better VFM... and you claim these are far better than club sites.

So exactly what is the problem? You've found better and cheaper, you should be happy? What does it matter to you what those on club sites pay?

I would think so.....so how are other members dealing with the economic situation these days?

Are none of them having to think about their spending?

    Maybe reduce optional expenditure?

You're doing the right thing by getting the right value for money for what you and your Family need, but you're wrong to assume that only those who have a high income stay on Club sites.

I don't have a high income and I prefer to stay on club sites, so how am I being inconsiderate to others? How is my choice on where we stay affecting you, or anyone else?

If I buy a BMW, does that mean I'm not considering people who can only afford cheaper cars?

The prices are what they are. We all have the choice whether to pay them, or not.

You are entirely entitled to your own opinion but please do not assume to know what others are thinking or what they want or what they do. You know very little about most of us because we don’t publish the minutiae of our lives or circumstances yet you assume we don’t consider others and that we may be rolling in it and happy to pay through the nose for whatever we want. I don’t make assumptions about you so it would be nice if you please reciprocate. Thanks.

We are currently staying on a club site in central Wales at £22.50/night including leccy which is great in my opinion VFM.  Only 10 of the 30 odd pitches occupied

I'm sure that many are but maybe not willing to admit to that on a public message board.

I have said many times that the only right way to tour is the way that's right for you and you seem to have found that way.

Albeit that we can afford to pay CAMC prices we just refuse to if we think it's not  VFM.

We like the non facility sites as we consider they are VFM. CLs are usually VFM but some are getting a bit pricey for what they are. I wish more would discount the price if you chose to go without ehu.

We would love to try THS but where we live they are not that many.

I see lots of adverts for both clubs on my FB feed, it appears both are chasing members to book, book, book.

With the way the weather has been for the last month I am glad that we haven't got anything booked at all. I cant say I find camping of any sort pleasant in the wet.

TG, the weather has not been so bad over the last collector weeks, at least where we have been, perhaps we are just fortunate.😁 We, like you, do not consider club sites and some CLs too VFM and have used alternatives that fit in with our site budget. Been away for over 200 nights a year there is no way we could afford to use club sites even  if we wanted to. And before anyone comes back and suggests that we could cut down on the number of nights away, that is not what we intend doing, at least for a while yet.
