Unable to access CT website
For about 8 hours I was unable to open the club website at all yesterday, on various machines and phones. This from mid afternoon until finally opening it up just gone 10 pm
I notice that other members made posts during that time. Did anyone else experience this "lockout"?
All machines able to access it today and I had no problems at all with other sites or internet connection.

Yup something badly amiss at EG HQ yesterday, but interestingly the club mag dropped thru my letter box today and i notice the following
1. not bombarded by many leaflets encouraging me to buy lots of stuff i do not need
2. very interesting Club Council Report, did not study in great depth but club seems to be doing ok
3. no mention of poor performance of the new booking system or in general of the poor performance of the web site in fact everything seemed to be smelling of roses
4. lots and lots of info/articles/money off offers re e-bikes and the like, i think the club might be planning to expand into the e-bike business

Yes, for me, it was off all evening from around 6-7pm. “Server stopped responding”. Initially it was just the CT section but later seemed to be the whole site including bookings. I noticed people started posting again just before 10pm.

Every time whatever way i tried i got a message that caravan club site taking too long to respond.......
Got on this morning and seems OK.

Must admit I wasn't too concerned as I was quite busy but every so often would try it again. I wonder why some people weren't affected by it?
As usual for this club there doesn't seem to have been any message or communication. Mushrooms spring to mind.

I couldn't get any access last night either, and have been reading on FB complaints from others who couldn't book sites. Not very happy members!

I had the same " waiting for the CAMC " thing half an hour ago.
Strange that nobody is around when we need some IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE doing !!
I don't like Faceache but wonder if that suffers the same as wot we does on 'ere
Certainly Brian will go to bed soon but not as a Happy Bunny !!

I am not convinced it was the fault of the Club but more likely the servers on which the Club site is hosted given the nature of the problem. I suspect the likes of Facebook and other social media giants host their own servers as they are so large.

C'mon David .... the site is lousy .... it's a slow as a very slow thing at the best of times .... I know of no other website that has or needs so much over night maintenance. I use forums that are run from a back bedroom that are more reliable than CT. If it is the servers, someone from the club should get off their backside & do something about it. Their IT is seemingly none existent!

David, your are always coming up with excuses why the "club's" web site, and in particular CT, has not functioned, and being a Moderator you feel you should be doing this, but even you must realise the the website is becoming a joke and is hardly fit for purpose. But they at EG will carry on regardless of all the complaints made about it...talk about ostriches!!

I don't think I do make excuses, I try to offer explanations for what might have gone wrong. I think people that know about such things would accept that what happened the other evening was a server issue which, because they out source such things, the Club would have no direct control over. This has happened before but it is fairly rare. The workings of CT might not be as smooth as some other forums but I reckon that my personal experience is that probably about 95% of the time I find it runs perfectly well for me.

David, I'm sorry but companies DO have control (including control of the purse strings) for the service meted out to their customers by third parties.
having managed many a third party contract I can guarantee there will be a hotline from the customer service manager to the provider service manager and if things aren't going to the service agreement (too many outages, site too slow etc) someone will (should) be getting it in the ear.
as others have said, I've never come across a website like this one for (total lack of) performance....in this day and age I'd say it wasn't good enough by a long way.
umpteen years later and it's still the worst site I've ever used...
With respect, the only one who can give us (the customers) a valid reason for an outage would be the CAMC service manager who should be posting meaningful banner pages with an explanation....it shouldn't be you, nor should you try to 'explain' without proper first hand information....🤷🏻♂️

Back to the 'old original' server error......
The other one, which said Caravan Club to slow to respond, was at least a change 😉.
I've given up trying to fathom this website, but it amazes me that if threads are open, they refresh 🤞without the errors most of the time, even when other methods of access get the error message. It seems to me, completely ignorant of such matters!, that DavidKlyne's comment re a third party can't be the case ?????????

I am becoming reluctant to offer any explanations for obvious reasons! However you do have to distinguish in general terms between not being able to get onto a website at all , like the situation we had the other day which indicates a breakdown in access to the main servers and internal website problems like not being able to access a particular page in say a discussion. I appreciate that both are annoying.

Not noticed anything new. However, it went down between 6 and 8pm yesterday. For them to take it down at that time I would assume they had a serious problem.
I wonder if they have got their automatic payment system working again, when we arrived at Cromer recently it wasn’t working and apparently hadn’t been for a few days.1 -
I've tried several times, early/late evenings and before 8am to find the delightful Bunree photo telling me yet again they're doing essential maintenance to try to improve my Web experience.......
If not that hindrance, the dreaded server errors.
I've lost posts and lost the will to post much, possibly along with other previously regular posters. I do read posts
It seems however often they try I see nothing like improvement, often the opposite. It's taken forever to login and load a page now, it just hangs for ages.
Sometimes I get ready to read, generally around 10pm, load the age, get diverted for a few moments and find the photo.
WHY WHY WHY can't they add a banner regarding planned maintenance? Maybe it's always crash issues....
My bank and other sites have notification weeks/days in advance and the planned close down and hopeful reinstatement time.

I can understand the overnight thing, a lot of other more higher profile companies do that, for example I couldn't pay for my DBS update service last night as it was down for maintenance and that's a UK.gov site, but I don't understand the regularity of the overnights for the club, it is almost every night!
I assume last evening's was unexpected otherwise why put it back on for a few hours till it was off again?

Surely they would have reports of closures, after the event?, and thus ask questions?
Oh silly me.......
I agree with Cornersteady about maintenance overnight on many sites from time to time. Here its often and not limited to just that....

B2, I have reported your post of 15:32, but doubt that it will do any good, or that we get any acknowledgement concerning the reasons for the down times.

Thanks Nellie. Neither of us should hold our breath!
Musing to myself I often wonder if threads of this type are completely/deliberately overlooked? As the title is pretty clear and just an acknowledgement by the club plus something like saying I'm forwarding comments onto the IT team would at least show someone cared 😢...

I am unable to stay logged on to the website for more than 30 seconds before getting an error message , this is an ongoing problem .......back to C& CC site which allows me to book a holiday
0 -
This message which keep appearing which stops me from looking up sites to book a holiday states
"Application error: a client-side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information).
Just in case anyone from IT , or finances, or marketing or any other part of the organisation who may wonder why bookings are down .

The Club's Service Manager would (should) know about any service outage, planned or otherwise.
part of the Service Agreement should detail the number (and duration) of permitted outages over a billing period.
I've never come across a website that is taken down so often with so little (apparent) concern...
certainly the customers are the last to know and the lack of communication is astonishing.
the site goes down so regularly that the club should just let everyone know that 'normal service' is not a 24 hr thing and that the site will have a recurring maintenance slot from x till x.
Customers' expectations should be managed far better than this.
I can use the CT Discussions section, but when I click 'Club Together' I get the server error message. This 'fault' has been with the system since the year dot....does anyone care?....no idea, no one communicates.

Same for me as well, on an iPad using Safari. It’s very hit and miss as to what you can actually access, and the buffering is endless.
