Fleet Consolidation

An E-Mail from Brittany Ferries arrived today informing us that BF have had to cancel our upcoming sailing from Portsmouth to Santander on 20/02/2023 at 21:30 due to commercial reasons. One of the options mentioned in the E-Mail was to amend the booking by logging on to 'My Account', trying this option fails as it appears that I can no longer log on. The E-Mail was headed 'Fleet Consolidation' my OED gives two definitions of consolidate, 1: make stronger or more solid, 2: combine into a single unit, I'm not sure which of these covers my cancellation!

Just tried my account and it logs on OK. Worth trying again, might have been a glitch. If it still fails, perhaps try forgot password and get a link to reset.

A French friend says a better translation from the French would have been Regrouping .

Did you book with this Club ? Phone Club travel desk to make amendment.

Hi, Just looked at the BF website and it appeasrs this is the only affected crossing with both legs showing as "Sold Out" in the timetable.

As above, I too can login to 'my account' but have always found BF to be responsive and helpful, both by email and phone.

OH has said did you follow a link in the email as it could be a scam, his advice is to ring BF at Portsmouth as allanandjean suggested.

Thank you for all your replies. I booked using my clubvoyage membership. I did indeed follow the E-Mail link not thinking about the possibility of a scam, yet the link for the refund seemed to function okay. BF are offering a full refund so we will take that and instigate a Plan B; driving down through France.

For anyone who gets one of these emails, I'd suggest you re-arrange crossings asap as when crossings are cancelled no alternative is automatically offered.  Members in Spain who have been affected are reporting that many return crossings are already sold out.  Because they are in Spain and already running near to their 90 day limit, they are having to arrange crossings with an alternative provider.

There is a crossing on the 24th showing availability? Appreciate this may not be convenient but, at only three days later, might be OK.

We are not alone in having our booking cancelled by Brittany Ferries, here's a quote from a thread on the Motorhomefun.co.uk website: 'Brittany ferries have just informed us that our ferry Portsmouth to Santander is cancelled on the 20th February 2023 due to refugee(sic) being brought into Uk from Spain. The Galicia has been moved to the Cherbourg crossing'. This is what BF meant by ' due to commercial reasons.' in their Fleet Consolidation E-Mail.
