Site in Roses, Spain

For many years (last time being around 12 years ago) my inlaws went to Roses in a Fiat Ducato converted van for a couple of months early Summer and would have booked through the Caravan Club site.  Sadly they are nolonger with us and we never found out which site they went to.  There doesn't appear to be a Caravan Club recognised/affiliated site in Roses anymore.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to which one it may have been?

We have a 9.2m motorhome and are looking for a site in the Roses area in July or in the South of France on the Spanish border.  Our usual site in Biarritz sadly doesn't have availability this year. Can anyone recommend a site which has direct access to the beach and which would be suitable for our sized vehicle?

TIA.

    Hi Banton

To my knowledge, there aren't any sites with direct beach access in Roses itself - you would need to look in Sant Pere Pescador across the Bay, but I haven't stayed in that area yet.

However, if 400 metres isn't too far off the beach, try Camping Salata which has a number of supersize pitches which can accommodate liner size MHs.

We stay there regularly, although never in peak season, and find it suits our needs admirably.

As an alternative, and another favourite of ours, try Camping Beauregard Plage in Marseillan Plage, just outside Agde.  That site does have direct access to the beach and has some very long pitches.

Good luck with your travels, wherever you may go.

    Jim

That's great, thanks for the feedback Jim.  I'll have a look at both those sites.

    Hi David

    Thanks for your reply/feedback.

Camping Las Palmeras looks lovely and just what we're after.  There are a couple of reviews (albeit from quite a few years ago) about the trainline being very noisy and running every 10 mins to the point that things 'rattled' and conversations had to be stopped.  Was this your experience?  We lived next door to a trainline for a number of years and got used to it, but wouldn't like it to ruin a long awaited holiday to that degree. TIA.

    Hope that helps.

ps It is a very nice site at San Pere Pescador. There are a few others congregated in a smallish area at SPP, namely Gaviota, Aquarius and Amfora. We were "forced" to stay at Aquarius when turning up unbooked at Easter one year but enjoyed it despite the cost!

Salata at Rosas is Ok but we found it windy every day.
