ATMB Toll Tag

I’ve had my ATMB toll tag for a few years now. Sadly not used since 2019. Does anyone know how long battery lasts? Thinking of France this summer and wonder if it will still work. Don’t want embarrassing moment at toll booth! What do you do about replacement?

If its the same with the Emovis Tag the company let you know when they think it needs changing and arrange a swap over. I assume they know the average life of a battery so work on that basis. Some of the toll companies have offices at some of the toll booths, which a Google would probably confirm, so you could always call in person and sort it out if you had a problem? If you can log into your account it may even mention there whether its time for a new battery.

Good question - we too have the ATMB system and started in 2017 so I would expect the battery to be on its last legs. I see there's an option to replace a defective badge and wonder whether it's worth doing that before our tentatively planned trip this summer.

Our Emovis one dated from 2017. When I logged onto my account recently it showed that the battery was low and I needed a new tag. I think they also emailed me. As they can’t communicate with the tag, I assume it is done on age, so that would be 5 years. I just ordered a new one for which they charged me 20 € plus postage and sent back the old one on which they refunded 20 €. So the cost was the postage. They also sent a UK sticker.😀

We also have an ATMB tag unused since 2019.   But I did have a M6toll tag and it lasted about 8 years before it needed replacing so I am not too worried.

Good question. The danger is that it fails when you are out touring,. This happened to me a few years ago, and I was told to post the old tag back and then the new one wold be sent to my registered home address. No alternatives. So if you are worried it might be wise to send your current tag back for exchange before the holiday season.

Just out of curiosity I logged into my Emovis account today and I was surprised to see my unused Tag, about fives old, had a warning that the Tag needed to be replaced. As we have no immediate plans to go to Europe I have decided not to bother with a replacement and will send it back and hopefully get my deposit back!!!
