Motor mover remote
Hi,
New to this forum and new to caravanning. We bought a little Elddis Explore 302 at the beginning of November and took or first trip out in it last weekend after getting familiar with how it all works and waiting for the freezing weather to go!
Any, all went well until we got home and minor issue has occured.
I have a Truma SE (single axle) motor mover (M2 I believe) and I dropped the remote while the motor mover was in operation. Unfortunately the drop was onto my paved driveway and ever since it won't engage with the unit in the caravan. I have tried to recalibrate by pressing reset for 5 seconds (light flashes rapidly) and then switching on the remote while pressing the reverse button. That did not work. On the unit in the van I have a slow flashing red LED next to the reset.
Any tips I could try? Seem a new remote is in the region of £150 on eBay - cannot find it anywhere else!
3rd party remote are ~£90.
Issue is the van is parked on the side lawn when not in use and I cannot manouvere it there with the motor movers. The van can be on the drive temporarily, but it gets in the way a little

A caravan dealer who sells Truma items should be able to get you a replacement.
I can’t help with technical tips but my top tip is to never place the remote control on the van's A-frame while hitching up (😳) but to attach it to your person, perhaps with a lanyard.

First step would be ......check that the batteries in the remote are all in their correct position.It is not unknown for the batteries to disconnect when the unit is dropped.

Just a thought, did you switch the power off at the caravan, red switch, then back on before trying to operate the mover again? if I leave the remote for a while without operating it I have to reset the power switch before the remote will work again.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have switched off at the isolator and the remote - several times. Remote switches on and beeps to indicate it is trying to find the unit in the van but never does. However as it was working fine when I dropped the remote I suspect the drop has somehow managed to damage the transmitter function.
I have managed to open up the remote and can see no loose connections but will try again tomorrow in the day light.Failing that I will call the Truma dealers to see what they charge......

I used this guy Remote Fixer to fix a remote control on my patio awning. Fixed price repair, no fix no fee, just postage. We had a problem with our remote in the summer. Nothing we could do, in the end apart from replace it with a new one.... basically it was the electrics in the handset.... Powrtouch remotes are also expensive but I don't think we quite paid £150.....
Edit: Just looked it up.... it cost us £120...!!1 Rang up Powrtouch to buy - it arrived the next day to the site we were on.... It was cheaper direct from them - more expensive from the local caravan dealer, who said they would have to order one in...

I dropped and broke our truma mover remote the day before going away last year but found a replacement one on ebay for £75 so rather than cancel our booking I did the 60 round mile trip to collect one and with just a couple of clicks and it was paired

Called a Truma dealer - £149 - are the replacements gold plated
Also spoke to the Remote Fixer guy and he was good. Not the fault he was expecting (the remote still power on) but he can check if it is transmitting. If it isn't he cannot fix but I only lose out on a few quid postage. Interestingly he said he has had loads of Truma remotes in for repair but never a 3rd party one. Think if he cannot repair it then I will just either but a 3rd party or see if I can get a 2nd hand one from eBay. Not needed for a month or 2 now so no rush.

Thanks Amesford, was looking at them. That price is for the M1, the M2 is £85+£5 postage. Obviously they use more gold in the later versions

We had trouble with our remote, It was doing strange things !!
I phoned Truma direct they told me the issue was the membrane. Sent it back to them and they returned it within 10 days. All sorted !
Cost was £50.

A problem we had with the mover remote was that it appears they are not waterproof. We arrived on-site in Spain in the pouring rain an sited the van as best we could. The next day we tried to adjust the position of the van and the remote refused to operate. On contacting PurpleLine I was told that the mover was not designed to be rainproof,(as though caravanners do not do it in the pouring rain). They agreed to ship out a new controller, which I paid for on the understanding that if I returned the old one when we were back in the UK then they would refund the cost. I duly returned the old unit and they refunded the cost of the new one. The new unit now lives and works inside a ziplock plastic bag, just in case it rains.

All sorted, forgot to post update. The remote guy did a test and said it was not transmitted (despite being switched), nothing more he could do so i told him to bin it.
Brought a new one off eBay from the links supplied (which I had found prior to asking for advice) and this works well.
Incidentally the remote fixer guy stated he never gets and 3rd party ones in to repair but plenty of the original Trauma ones. Lesson learnt I guess :-)0 -
