Hi,  I was just wanting to know if anyone has any experience of the Club wifi and ability to use it for Teams/Skype meetings. I have a laptop which is fine on 4G on most sites except our favourite where the reception is non existent. I was thinking of siting our caravan over the winter, but would need to use the site wifi to access meetings etc as I work from home.  Anyone know if the wifi is capable of supporting this?

I very much doubt it. Often it's not even capable of reaching this website. Although things are supposed to be changing, the site wifi was not originally intended for more than simple browsing and checking emails.

I very much dought it as the above post states,,even when all the sites that are being up graded? with a fibre supply via open reach(bt) many sites are very rural annd if large and busy the supply to the site could be serving a village of up to 200+ LVssurprised

There have been lots of discussion threads on club WiFi on here. Generally folks not impressed would sum it up we'll. Definitely not good for what you're proposing I'd say.

I found THIS fairly recent one which might help. It does get rather off topic at times 🤔🤐. Folks have made their own arrangements that work for them, it may give you some ideas?

Lynne, is reception non-existent on ALL networks or just your current one?
would another network solve your issue?

site WiFi doesn't sit well with wider use of bandwidth....Skype etc is video based and will probably not be supported.

perhaps another site as a base...though I see its your 'favourite'...

    good luck, either way.

If your phone is unlocked why not try a different network by buying a pay as you go SIM card to see if it works. I am on EE and Margaret is on 02 and on some sites EE is fine and on others 02 is. I don't know what sort of connection you need for Teams/Skype. Currently on a site where I am getting about 2/3 mbps but it works fine for general use and email.

It’s great news that our Club sites are gradually going fibre,

however, a fast broadband isn’t much use, if on site

    wifi coverage/ service is poor.

    I purchased a years’s subscription, whilst

at Cirencester Club Site in June this year and had no service at our van. Had to stand next to the office for a signal. Reported it to Airangel, who promised an engineer. Had no result for remaining 6 days.

Currently ( 20/09/2021) on Cheshire Fairoaks site -

no service here either. Waiting for a callback from Airangel

Am I just unlucky, or does the service need a fault statistic

procedure, that members report and  club management act upon?

You could well be "unlucky?" as we have not had the problems you seem to have ,it has been very slow at times when some are "streaming?and the site is busy, that includes Cirencester

We are at Henley and I think that might be a "Gold" site. The WiFi is rubbish and talking to Air Angels a nightmare.

Have asked the CMC for a full refund...

I don't think you'd be able to reliably Zoom or use Teams across it I'm afraid. Best hope that one of the networks has good coverage and buy a MiFi device...

Why not try the commercial up the road, the WiFi is first rate and included in the site fee which is comparable to Four Oaks...
