Hi travelling by ferry to Dublin soon and just wondering about carrying usual foodstuffs since leaving the EU. Are the checks carried out at departure port or arrival port.?

Any other tips?

Does it matter as long as you don't take anything you shouldn't.

However going over to France the checks are done once there, so I would imagine it would be the same.

Can't see UK border guards being bothered about what you take out of the country, only in. I imagine it will be at the other end, if at all.

Just returned from a trip to Ireland. Outward crossing from Holyhead and inbound from Rosslare.

We had no problems at all in either direction - from neither the UK nor the Irish authorities.  Did not even ask for some form of identification and the dog passports were not checked at all - we did though have the tapeworm treatment done for both directions.

On arrival in Ireland we were waved through Customs with a brief discussion as to where we were off to and some recommendations of places to visit.  Neither car nor caravan searched.

Were we lucky?  Maybe others will be able to comment.
