Greenflag, Mayday covid protocol
My daughter who is a Greenflag member recently broke down and required a flatbed to take her home, the flatbed driver refused to take her as he said it was covid policy to not take any passengers. She was on her own and late in the evening, my other daughter had to pick her up.
As a Greenflag Mayday member I rang up Greenflag helpdesk to ask what is the situation with covid breakdowns. They told me that they cannot force their subcontractors to take passengers. If it is within approximately 10 miles they will try to arrange for a local taxi firm to pick you up if they have an account with them. I asked what are you going to do it I am 300 miles away and towing my caravan, he said that they have team that has to arrange taxis, hire cars and accommodation if required. I said I hope you can put something in place very quick as if I breakdown with my family on a smart motorway with no hard shoulder and the weather is rough I won't be very impressed if we was left stranded for hours.

Taxi drivers have worked through most of the pandemic, driving instructors are now giving lessons in a small car, yet a truck driver wouldn't allow a lone female in his cab as a passenger?
If this is the case, Green Flag needs to instruct a taxi to attend at the same time as the recovery truck, in my opinion. They must be alerting the chosen recovery service to attend, and should therefore know whether passengers are accepted - surely.
Has anyone else had the same experience?
