I've today Emailed P&O asking for my 'deferment voucher' to be refunded to my Credit Card. I seem to have anticipated Mr Shapps by a few hours.

Along with a holiday cottage company I've found Brittany Ferries to be one of the best to deal with over the life of this Pandemic.

They reimbursed us for a ferry sailing before the WHO declared it a pandemic, merely because we didn't want to go to Spain. Mind you the Pandemic was declared within the week but hats off to BF for preempting it.

    Good result David.

Hi David, Thats good news for you, sad you can’t go but a good result and let’s just hope that BF are able to continue providing their quality service.

Good move, and Mr Shapps could be giving out good info for a change, headlines this morning says that 3/4 of EU countries have shown a rise of covid-19 infections this week undecided

There has been a surge in France. Just heard from a friend in NW France that things have been "relaxed" over there so now they have problems.

It was on Channel 4 News last night, sadly both France and Italy are seeing a big surge in cases. Doesn’t bode well for holidays anytime soon for these two nations☹️

Just recently moved my BF Flexi booking...now to late summer but not holding my breath..

As previously said, good company. No arguments and even given a further 20% off booking for accepting voucher in 2020....

Further to my post of yesterday afternoon, I have now heard from P&O who advise that my credit note is now valid until the end of September 2022. Hopefully we won't be having these conversations eighteen months from now. undecided

Personally I am comfortable with the fact that I have no credit notes outstanding, and no deposits paid for ferries, cruises, flights, overseas campsites or holiday houses. At my age I would not want money tied up in that way. Who knows whether I could ever use the bookings.

When this pandemic is over I will see if I am young enough, well enough, and keen enough to travel once again. But till then my money stays in the bank.

We went for what we thought was a sure bet, booking for September 2021 last July, specifically to secure the type of cabins we wanted. However, it’s only £200 deposit at this stage on a fully flexible ticket with Brittany Ferries, so not at significant risk and we wouldn’t be using it for anything else.

I also picked up on this on there website last night and phoned this morning to get confirmation and a "note" put on my file. I originally had a Tesco vouchers crossing with P&O for 2019 that I cancelled. They originally told me I had to book and cross by end of Sept 2021 but now this has been moved to Sept 2022. I'm annoyed I did not get an e-mail notification of this change .

At present Eurotunnel are undercutting P&O either booked direct or through the club so looks like I'll be using them this year for my return crossing in late Sept-Oct.

"But till then my money stays in the bank."

Hi euror, But had you booked a flight, cruise, ferry, foreign campsite etc and all had given an enhanced voucher value, of say 20% more than what you paid that would beat the return you get from the bank hands down!!!

Like you I am also glad not to have had that worry.

Or, as a former work colleague/my immediate boss, used to say some 45 years ago, if  I complained of imminent illness, 'If I looked like you do, Marchie, I wouldn't buy any more LPs; you mightnot livelong enough to listen to the last track ...' sealed

Ironically, and very sadly, Gordon died of a heart attack less than 10 years after we worked together, at the age of 35 ...

Valid point Euro...and of course your choice/opinion.

I choose to look at the actual deposits paid to both BF and Site (both can be rescheduled on a recurring basis) amount to a small risk in the greater scheme of travel at yours/mine age !!

Thank you . It does seem to be a deep seated tendency among Club members to want to book far ahead - perhaps for the sake of security - and then to switch those bookings - a well publicised practise with UK Club site bookings after all.

I have never been troubled by fears that an overseas site might be full or a ferry might be full. All my travels - in Europe and further afield -  have been spontaneous and I don't think I have ever held made bookings months ahead and then switched them around. I treat overnight ferries like overnight trains - even Jaipur to Jaisalmer - just buy a ticket go. Then find somewhere to stay.

France will one day be attractive again and I hope to go back- but that will be spontaneous too.

Whenever I am about to send large amounts of money electronically to a new payee I always send £1 initially and ask them to confirm they got it just to check its gone to the right account. Can understand why BF are doing the same.

What have you tried so far?   If your pre paid Eurocard  is still valid you can try putting it in an ATM to withdraw cash. If your Eurocard has expired there is an e mail address to request return of your funds - I can look it up for you if you do not have it.
