Does it matter what the reasoning is? What difference would it make to know the reasoning? The rules are what they are. In my view sensible and necessary.
represent us the members? The issue here is that what are the views of the members? How do you know what they are? I suspect that many will just accept that they are extremely happy to be still here to be able use sites whenever they open, facilities or not. I certainly am.

CAMPING COVID - Having survived over 12 months without holidays, I'm sure I can manage a few more weeks before amenity blocks are opened. Whether we'll have a key-system, a band-system or some form of compromise remains to be seen and I'm sure the club will have learned a few lessons from last year's experiences.
Have the club officers, or indeed any individual members on these forums, had any reported experience of someone actually catching the virus after attending the CAMC sites during last year's "open" sessions? What's been the outcome?

Hi Chas, if you read back in this thread you will find the explanations regarding the government's stipulations for different facilities in different settings and the reasoning behind these. The associated risk assessments are different in different settings and with these the scenarios for usage. The government have weighed these up and made a decision- we are told the club, along with others in this industry, have sought clarification.
In order to meet the government's requirements for settings like campsites individual facilities for each pitch would need providing. Now given the fact that the communal facilities can (hopefully) open in a few weeks we can wait can't we? This slow, monitored and systematic unlocking of things is to assist the decline of the virus and its effects on economy and society. It makes absolute sense to me and I really hope that the data, as a result of our compromises, does go the favourable way and the 17 May happens as described. We will have to keep more than fingers crossed may be!😉

I don’t take an issue with the facility blocks being closed. However, it’s fairly easy to see in the mass of rules regulation and guidance how the waters become muddied.
Pubs can open outdoors from Monday. Folk can enter a beer garden through the pub wearing a mask, enter the pub to use the toilet wearing a mask but not to pay. This is apparently going to be a problem in areas with poor 4G or those with thick walls making transmission from inside variable. Everyone of course has got used to paying contactlessly and using actual money just increases risk. To make matters even more complicated the licensing of some pubs specifically prohibits them from taking money outside. They are seeking clarification before Monday.

Our pub uses a portable pay machine Steve, (collecting take aways from a table in the doorway at present) I would imagine that solves the problem for most. Some will try and do a one way system for toilet facilities, one in one out, via different routes, good ventilation etc.
When out at a garden last week, the facilities and garden were working on a one way system. The cafe had a one way take away system and a separate QPR, and they checked to see if you'd done this etc A lot going on in different venues to make the system as safe as possibe.

There is an old adage- be careful what you wish for! May be the novel one in this Covid time is - be careful what you clarify.
No matter how complex and possibly contradictory to some once clarififcation is sought all other possible interpretations are lost to you.

I may have missed it but I haven't seen anyone on here saying they had caught covid at a club site.
If anyone did catch it at a club site or there were any outbreaks the club hasn't said yet. In any case I would think it would be difficult to establish if it was caught actually on site or while wandering about off site?

We have never used the shower in our Swift Challenger . We only get a three minute dribble , and hardly enough time to wash your hair.
Before the second person showers we have to re-fill thw aquaroll .
So the shower block is essential for us. They should reduce the fees !!

Indeed AD😁 I did a lot of training as well, and it doesn’t matter how much you do, you have to expect anything from the public.
The worst thing I can recall was when I was based in our big Leisure Centre. My office door flew open and someone almost collapsed into the room, pale as a ghost. A customer had booked our shooting range, been accompanied down there by a member of staff, everything set up, and then instead of firing at the target, the member of the public committed suicide. Horrendous. Truly dreadful for the Member of staff. You can imagine all the stuff that happened next, took ages to sort things out. Women’s League of Health and Beauty took some persuading to use the room as normal after that I can tell you.

That sounds wrong, we also have a Swift Group van and we get enough HW at decent pressure for at least 5 minutes, but......you do need to use the wet, turn off, soap up, then rinse method when showering. No use trying to do things like at home.
We can get 2 showers out of an Aquaroll, but OH prefers to err on the safe side, so I empty and fill while the water is reheating.
We mainly use our own facilities.

You’ve never used your shower but you know the water runs out prior to the second person showering? A 3 minute dribble empties your Aquaroll? A couple of anomalies there.🤔
I think you probably need to sort out your showering technique. Water on, get wet all over, water off. Apply soap/shampoo all over, water on and rinse off. Don’t attempt to use it like a domestic shower.
I guess you'll not be using sites until the full May opening.

You are doing something wrong or your system has got a fault ,as unless you leave the pump runniing all the time you are in the shower (you have to adapt in an LV) there should be enough water in the Aquaroll to have a shower for both of you

In normal times we use the facilities, if there are any. However, last September we used our MH shower exclusively. We certainly managed to get two showers out of less than an aqua roll worth equivalent. Otherwise we would have been visiting the MH service point rather a lot. The main advantage of a MH being there is a gauge that shows you how much is left, so there little risk of running out when you are still soap covered.😂

It appears to be the Caravan and Motorhome Club that is unilaterally closing these facilities. The Camping and Caravan club have them open but ask you if possible to use your own facilities. Why are the C&M club setting their own restrictive rules up until 17th May?

Hair washing can be a challenge in a caravan!
We’ll just be really glad to be able get away later this month, after yet another 3 months in lockdown. If it means having to keep filling the Aquaroll, so what? Much better than having to stay at home 🙂🙂0 -

In fact I can't find any camp site with shared facilities identical to those of both clubs in England which are opening. They all now seem to have got the message or will do very quickly as I believe the whole industry are now complying unilaterally.

If OH has one of his big wallowing basin washes and a shave etc I ususally wait for the water to heat up again otherwise I get a lukewarm then cold shower...
Be prepared all those who just saunter over to the wash blocks! Take your van booklets with you so you can fix things that go wrong.
Our loo flush conked out on one trip, a jug of water came in handy as a temporary flush.

In normal times I'd just take it off and shove it in the washing machine on a low temperature wash then 5 minutes in the tumble drier - can't even do that now with the laundry block closed!

About an hour ago recieved a text from the club advising that our bookings are at sites with facility blocks that because of govenment instructions will not be open until 17th May if we wish to cancel or amend our bookings if not acceptable
