Free Night Site Voucher on Renewal

Irrespective of the problem being sorted, morally it was completely wrong that the 'problem' existed in the first place. CAMC asked membership for loyalty last year and many, myself included continued with their renewal in support. Now to find they have been issuing vouchers in an underhand way must have had approval from high, along with the underhanded way of who and how the person might acquire them. Not good at all and not a muddled situation but one of their own making.

With respect that is twaddle, staff have access to the intranet where policies and procedures are located and just because you are WFH does not mean those have changed. I have worked form home for many years and have to follow the rules and regulations of a highly regulated industry so there is no excuse in my mind.
Changes can be sent out via email or virtual team meetings, I think the problem here is unlike many other organisations such as the C&CC, NT, EH etc. the C&MC have rested on their laurels and expected their loyal members to stick with them through this whole mess rather than try and encourage them to keep being members with some incentive. The above organisations offered a 3 month extension if you wanted to take it up or support them by not using it, the C&MC offered nothing except to a few who asked.
They should have had a blanket policy of either offering an incentive or not either by the way of an extension to membership or in this case a voucher. The voucher could have been valid say for off season use to limit their loss in revenue (As we see on the MH Fun thread in high season this is £50+ for a family) and maybe make it time limited over the next winter but no they offered nothing to most but quite a lot of monetary value to some in the way of a voucher.
For me its not the loss of a voucher but the underhand way the majority of members have been treated and the expectation that members would stay and support the club whatever, plus the lies saying there were no vouchers offered when there clearly was...

Agree M, as with the vouchers debacle, where initially they didn’t have an end date, then they did. A situation entirely of their own making. Incidentally I see they have extended the finish date to the end of 2022. If they had done that in the first place I would have bought some.😀

I can agree with what you say about working from home,
Some companies/organisations are on the ball with home working and have good practices in place
When out with the many "new dog walkers" that have appeared with it seems working from home, that in this area is very prolific, (no London commutes) and much safer for those concerned ,it is when in conversations (social distanced , except the dogs)that quite a few companies are having"problems" and cannot wait to fully get their staff back in the office,
When contacting ,some companies one of the more usual conversations has been the apologies recieved because of the add time it may take to get an answer "we are working from home", the office has covid secure spaced staff on duty only
Our LA ,EON,and Now TV (sky)are those that have intimated thus when contacted
So as part of old sayings "for the want of a nail the Battle was lost" or the longer the chain the more the message gets altered

Sorry Bakers2 I think that somewhat unfair. When you and I both worked we did not have to deal with COVID and manage our working and personal lives as one thing. For most it wasn't choice. It is far easier in an office environment as I know from personal experience. Not long before I retired I was able to work from home but personally found it very distracting and much prefered my office as a place of work.

We joined the Club on 24th February 2020, on the way back from Spain, after my heart attack 1 month earlier. Arrived in Scotland on 27th Feb, dropped caravan at Repairer for minor work, and then took Car for 28th Feb MOT.
Couple of weeks later, Site Vouchers for this New Member arrived, roughly 1 week or so before lockdown! Voucher has since expired! Would have been nice for the expiry date to have been extended 'in these difficult times', but c'est la vie. Not worth getting my blood pressure rising for ...
Steve
PS Still waiting for Repairer to tell me the caravan is ready to collect after the part has arrived from Italy ... Warranty Repairs £0; storage £200? Wouldn't quibble if that proves to be the case.

There is a big difference between working FROM home and working AT home.
Salespersons, engineers, and many others have worked FROM home for generations - and generally with little problems as it was a well established protocol that they did their work and returned home afterwards - some after a tour of duty staying elsewhere - without much in the way of physical visits to company offices.
This pandemic-induced working is AT home - and there is the root of the problems.

We have a working From home domestic appliance engineer lives opposite us He is kept stocked by parcel delivery companies ,which includes facemasks in nearly all his parcels,as we have been supplied from because over overstocked at his house
As you say working at home is not as succesfull as some would hope

"This pandemic-induced working is AT home - and there is the root of the problems"
i think there are 2 scenarios
1. pandemic-induced working AT home, which for many may only be a short to medium term solution, and if implemented correctly, helps to keep the covid-19 element of our lives at bay. So many of these people dont see this as a forever thing and have probably not made any provisions for it to be a "forever thing" so probably working from the kitchen table or similar.
2. working AT home if this is to be long term, and i did this for 4 years very successfuly, you need to create the correct environment and companies who ask people to work at home have a duty of care to ensure the environment created is condusive to the work that person is expected to perform. So in my case we had a 3rd, small bedroom, which i made into an office, ideal for me as i worked with many countries in different time zones, so working at 0200 hrs was not uncommon and as i was at home it was very easily accomplished but you have to be very self disciplened.
for the CAMC home workers, some will be stressed for sure, and the workload just now very heavy, somebody stated that the on line chat person they were speaking to was handling at least one other chat, incoming telephone calls are probably dispatched to the person who is free or you wait in queue, so if you get cut off the chances of getting connected to the original customer service rep are slim.
I dont suppose we will ever be told how many vouchers were given out, but it looks like initially somebody getting confused with a new member joining and an existing member renewing , or even a member introducing a new member, dont you get a voucher for this ?
all in all very unprofessional, but i suspect that right now the club are probably gaining more members than they are loosing, and i guess if you dont like it you probably have 3 options complain and hope you get some recompense , forget about the whole scenario and put it down to experience, walk away.

One thing that has been highlighted to me by some who are now because of the covid situation working AT home is the lack of personal contact with their work environments,, which seems for some ,quite stressfull, as there is not the "comunication" that an office enviroment with close contact (eye to eye body language)gives
Which as those working From home(as our neighbour probably feels) is not required

The fourth option is to vent your frustration at the covert way the Club has gone about its business of treating their members with inequality. Recompense in my case does not enter into the equation, if money was my concern I would not have renewed at the end of my touring season last year.

Working from home and remotely has been done for many years by masses of people working for large international companies and organisations. I have done it myself. It just requires competent infrastructure and management systems something that does not seem to be in CAMC's portfolio. I wonder if it ever will .

The 4th option is the important one, I think.
The posts on here and MHF clearly demonstrate the differing standards being applied. Many of those posts show copies of correspondence.
I don't care a jot whether the situation was caused by home working and consider that a poor excuse and rather a red herring. It should not have happened at all and something meaningful needs to be done to make good the situation which has upset many of us who supported the club by renewing and have not sought any form of reward for that.
To think I often tell posters that CAMC treats all its members equally! In future, I shall modify my words to be clear I am only referring to the booking system.

If it makes you feel better , then do it, no point in bottling it up, if you feel venting your frustration on this forum is the way to go, but dont expect the CAMC to take much notice, well that is my experience, that is why i am relaxed about the whole experience, but am annoyed, but not about to give myself a heart attack for what, £25 or so

Having read about this on another motorhome forum I contacted the CAMC to enquire about it. I was told that they are not giving 3 months extra on our yearly subscription but I could have a free night voucher instead although they are only valid until the end of June ! As we will not receive our second Covid jab until the end of May, & we probably will not be venturing out until then it does not leave much time to use this “complementary voucher” & although they were quick to point out its potential monitory value, its no where near as high with a June expiry date as a end of August one of course.

I don’t think it could ever be considered a conspiracy, David. That implies planning and efficiency of implementation.😏

Duting the lockdown last year over 900 staff were furloughed including many from EGH and there is no reason to think it has changed this time ,and numerous departments because they were unable to social distance in their own offices the staff were were working at home

I try to keep an open mind and judge each issue on its merits rather than have a blanket opinion. This time I believe the club is found wanting.
