Ups! Should have edited those photos. I’m sure you’ll get the idea.

Definitely. One of our favourites is at Beaune inFrance. Lovely clean site and facilities and great restaurant on site. Nice little town about 10 minutes walk, lovely market. Aldi 10 mins in the other direction.

We use this site too on our way to Portugal. You can buy bread, wine and pizzas in reception. Facilities are lovely. You do pay extra for electricity though, which is metered in winter.

Can i add a new site for us, we left Bravo Play Resort Cabanas Spain today after five days.and had a really great time only about ten outfits on site.

Excellent facilities with Bar/Restaurants X 2, Pools X3, Pitches with sinks and very good wifi, situated next to a nice beach, not far from the town of Oropessa. At Bonterra now on 5g wifi ?  not many here either.

    Phil

Club members sometimes ask if there are CLs in France - and the answer is Yes but No. There certainly are small, informal, casual campsites, but they aren't strictly limited to five outfits as they are at home.

This is Camping Le Pesquie near St Remy de Provence - as well as tents and a tree house there were only three or four caravans when we were there, Madame Perret serves drinks from an outdoor bar beside her house, there's a notebook on the counter to jot down the bread or pastries you want for next morning, and an honesty box to pay when you collect them. There are outdoor seats in places where the wi fi works, clean facilities, low powered electrics, lots of space and shady trees, no need to book, and the whole set up is very relaxed - so it's almost a CL, but  the downside is that there is no pool.

We used to stop at Camping Aquileia before setting off on our secret toll free route through Slovenia ( stop for cheap fuel) before popping out in Croatia just north of Rijeka. We then stopped at Autocamp Draga before catching the ferry  to Cres. We've posted a few stories on here about our route and both campsites. One of our ice-cream selfie ( see club magazine) was taken at Draga. BTW, latterly we gave Draga a miss and pressed on to the ferry and our favourite site at Cres.

Eurotraveller thanks for the tip about La Pesquie. We go to St Remy every summer but getting a bit fed up with high cost of sites and sometimes noisy campers! This looks like a good alternative.

Jamsdad, You won't be troubled by noisy campers at Le Pesquie. Here's a shot of us in the distance there in early July a few years ago. Is it an orchard or an arboretum? But you do pay a bit more for that sort of space - 21 euros a night when sites on the ACSI card list would be charging a mere 16  euros.

But it's not your only option in the St Remy area. We have been equally comfortable at Camping les Micocouliers at Graveson - a proper campsite rather than something like a CL. and we recommend that one too.

Thats a good price for the area- Mas de Nicholas ( St Remy) is now 35 euros a night in high season.

I think I may have stayed there a few years back, from memory there are a few campsites on that stretch of the river on the northern outskirts of Millau? Nice area and as you say the Viaduc is stunning.

Just up the road from there is another great site, Camping Peyrelade on the Tarn.

Camping Bela Krajina in Slovenia. Probably best avoided in high season and weekends, but at other times very peaceful riverside location with great swimming. Cafe/Restaurant on site. Unspoilt pretty area, quirky shop within walking distance.
