    I think we fall into the perceived CAMC demographic - long term members (since 1976 - with a break when we had to sell  sell the caravan to pay the electric bill, and then tented), 70+, we can quite happily stay on site all day, just relaxing, and like to know what the site will be like.

    But we do that as we don't get away very often - one week a year, plus a weekend - so if we get it wrong and end up somewhere that doesn't suit us, we've sort of ruined the holiday.

    So, for the past few years we've stuck with the same site for our main holiday. Not "stuck" as in unhappy with - quite the opposite. We like New England Bay as it's not just rows of white boxes, families and couples get along happily together. And on a personal note, I like the familiar, driving up the same roads to get there, recognising familiar places, noting things that have changed etc.

    And getting back to the OP and mutterings about the website - yes, it is awful. But holidays and caravans and life in general are in the real world - and that is what matters, not some text and pictures on a screen.

    yes, it is awful. But holidays and caravans and life in general are in the real world - and that is what matters, not some text and pictures on a screen.

    For a slow website try the C&CC , not only slow but is like a maze for navigating round. Lots of dead ends before finally reaching your goal and then going up blind alleys to get out again.  Every time you book a site you have to enter your outfit details, every time.  You don't know what you are going to have to pay, until you have entered, outfit, pitch, no. Adults, children, ACR, dates, uncle Tom cobley and all.  And don't get me started on their site search facility.  Compared to them, CAMC is cutting edge tech.

    Wow!!! not a C&CC member so never used their web site, but if all this is true and no reason to doubt it, then it blows a hole in a lot of the gripes on CTsurprised

    It still thinks one size fits all and charges accordingly. As a result, for those not requiring full fat facilities they are expensive for many especially for short stays which is an increasing requirement due to the growth in motorhome ownership. Families also find sites expensive for what is provided for them.

    That growth in membership has been over a few years and as sites are getting fuller they appear to be keeping members?

    That is a matter of opinion, the AGM minutes would suggest membership has been fairly static but existing members have been utilising sites more (site nights spent per member has increased)

    Anyway you have used club sites this year I recall (if not apologies but certainly in the past year), so you must be happy?

    I have only used a Club site for 3 nights out of 26 spent away so far this year. The others have been spent on a mix of CLs and commercial sites and I have been quite happy to do so.

    I’ve been saying similar for years. 

    You forgot to mention minimum night booking restrictions which you don’t find out about until you’ve gone through the rigmarole you describe. The restrictions are not consistent across the network or the seasons so you often have little clue in advance of completing the booking process.

    Then there are deposits.....

    It still thinks one size fits all... then those not needing full fat sites need to go elsewhere surely, and the club actually has the better model for short stays it has no minimum number of nights, unlike it has to be said that site you were championing as being better/cheaper than the club. Families find sites expensive? how many have you talked to? or is it just your family?  I haven't talked to any either but all I see on club sites are many many families using them.

    Why so MH can have cheaper places to stay? Again as above the club has no minimum number of nights, the prices are what they are, buy them or don't. But of course many do. Sites are full

    Sorry but I really think you want the club to change not for the future but to suit you and give you cheaper prices.

    I really don't know what you mean by ? For families stop charging for children of 4 or less under say 13 years. What are you on about? Under fives are free and kids are classed as kids up to being 17? Again the club has the best charges options for kids, many sites have £1 per child, who betters that. Many non club sites treat kids as only you to 14, so a 16 year old on these sites would be charges full price.

     I think your AGM figures are outdated.

    I think that's generalising too far JVB. Even in those pre internet and TV days, the very popular Hi de Hi style holiday would have been my worse nightmare. I think in all times / generations folk will spend their leisure time in lots of different ways. Perhaps just sitting reading a good book.

    No it isn't universal, nor is it always 2 nights - it's sometimes more. That very inconsistency causes confusion.

    We have only done a few bookings so far with the C&CC and haven't yet used a site. However, although a bit clunky, I didn't find the web site or the experience that bad. I would agree that it is difficult to establish the price before you complete a booking, however price is not the primary driver for us, but location. That was the primary reason for joining, to open up more locations now we have a MH and are moving on more frequently.

    Quite a lot really, Burford is a far better site, Morn Hill is all grass as been pointed out but also no large playground and play area and no dog walk. Kids for a £1 too.

    Far better placed in the beautiful Cotswolds too.

    No it’s not true. The App & website are functional, no better or worse than CMC, they both have their deficiencies.

    So booking online ideally needs a paper product as well, one which digital members won’t have, or having two tabs on the computer open and moving to and fro.

    Sheesh, no wonder I don’t often use C&CC!

    Not really Dave but all grass sites tend to be less popular.I have used a number of all grass sites .... it is the ones with mixed pitches but a low percentage of hardstands that I avoid
