Tell us about The Jura please!
Seriously thinking about visiting this area later in the summer. Probably about the only place in France that we have no experience of at all. Would be very grateful to hear about places of interest and recommendations of campsites please.

Not a great help I'm afraid as our last visit to the area was over 25 years ago.
What I can say is that we enjoyed it, staying for a week at Parcey near Dole and then at St.Point-Lac near Pontalier on a delightful municipal. Not sure if it's still there.
We were quite newish tourers in those days and working so everything passed in a blur. However we did enjoy the hills around the border and walked into Switzerland a few times by mistake. We found plenty of cheese based dishes and hearty stews and they have their own wine, straw yellow. We liked it then but tried it a few years back and changed our minds. Part of French Comte now I think but you should like it if you enjoy mountain scenery, deep gorges and rivers.

Longtimecaravanner thank you for allowing us to read your blogs, the second one isn't live though, I would love to read it, if you are able to make it available. Re the site at Guignicourt we have used it a few times as it is really convenient but yes it is really expensive, often our most costly night of the trip!

Les and Ang, it's hard to answer because I don't know what you are looking for or what you like to do while you are away. It's a while since we were there too, and although we liked the area in a low key sort of way we were never tempted back - other places had greater appeal for us.
There were some standout places I remember - and you might or might not find them interesting too - the chapel at Ronchamp, Besancon city, the walk to the Herisson waterfalls, several pretty but touristy villages , and the historic royal salt works at Arc et Senan. But in between there was an awful lot of farmland and forest - especially forest. Such a lot of it !
The whole area is bigger than you might think, and you will need several campsites if you want to get around and see all sides. Give it a go and see if you like it - if not move on. I hope it goes well.
