Just seen on Clubs ferry booking web page Barfleur is operating from the 1 Sept 20  Poole Cherbourg day time crossing.

Just book a return 6 sept to 11 Oct 2 passengers 5mt car & 8mt caravan with cabins for £281

I bet this crossing will fill up quick

"Barfleur" is licensed for 900 passengers but has only 72 cabins - so that ship is not sailing right now because the ferry company cannot socially distance everyone in cabins.

If they are re-introducing "Barfleur" in September it sounds as though Brittany Ferries is hoping tthat the present need for social distancing will be gone by then.

That might be wishful thinking in light of the present circumstances within many countries in Europe undecided

Bob55, I think Brittany Ferries would be delighted if that crossing did fill up quickly. They desperately need income.

They have said that they normally have 780,000 bookings for July and August but that this year they might reach 300,000 if they are very lucky.

The next question they have to face is whether September numbers will pick up sufficiently for them to bring "Barfleur" out of storage, or whether they can simply consolidate those September bookings with one of their four ships sailing to France from Portsmouth. They may not need a fifth.

We've had to book a cabin or a reclining seat on our ferry in August, so I imagine this must be the way for them to cut numbers and improve the social distancing.
