been doing most of what you suggest, and touch wood, too good effect so far, but interestingly the guidance says you should use seperate bathrooms where possible which we have been doing at home, so not sure how using a communal bathroom on a caravan site stacks up with that, granted the guidance is in relation to somebody in your household having the virus, but you are not to know on site who has or who has not got the virus ???.

Yes that guidance is for someone in your household who has the virus or suspected of having the virus.

But every time you go anywhere or do anything you are at risk of catching something from someone IE norovirus, flu, common cold.  Apart from a cold some of these things can potential make you seriously ill or you could die.  But you haven't in the past stopped living your life have you?

Its all about balancing those risks for yourself. Your doing hundreds of risk assessments for yourself every day and you've all lived this long with killing yourself.

I am fed up of all this doom and gloom.  We have got to live with this virus for the foreseeable so just need to get on with it.

once again i agree with you in general, but i think at this moment in time corvid-19 is far more serious than norovirus or flu, especially for those in the at risk category, and from news reports, for some it has far more reaching effects going forward with your life than flu, if you survive, so thanks for the advise but my risk assement today says i dont want to share public facilities whilst on a caravan site, not that i havent taken risks and broke some of the rules, so i am not a doom and gloom merchant, but this would be a bridge too far for me today, happy camping.

No, but I do remember us cycling to a beach in Zakynthos at 8.00am and admiring the flat calm warm waters of the Ionian Sea. The area had not yet woken up and even though we had not brought our swimwear or towels, this was an opportunity too good to miss, so skinny dipping was required.

“the guidance says you should use seperate bathrooms where possible which we have been doing at home”

This is if you have symptoms, not in general,  so not strictly applicable to using toilet blocks.
Whilst I think you could use blocks safely at the moment no real appeal for us in ‘making do’.

Be a bit wary of Staysure though TG. We've used them several times - they have a very efficient system for declaring pre existing conditions - you get an immediate decision and their premiums are quite reasonable. Fortunately,  we've not had to make a claim on any policy.

But we had bought insurance from them for our (now postponed) holiday in Greece when we booked it back in February.  On March 12th I received an email advising that existing policies could be upgraded with no admin charge to include travel disruption due to the virus. But when I tried to do that the message had changed to say that as from March 13th their underwriters would no longer allow it. Not sure if the situation for new policies is now different, so do check carefully.

Nearly all of the fence posts around the chemical emptying points are cut on the slope (I am sure to stop them rotting) which is a shame as it would be the ideal place for the cap off the cassette!!! I find the little boxes with the fire extinguishers in is a handy place to keep the cap safe!

Who said we had clothes on in Cornwall😂 It was to be our last swim before heading home, but the weather was just so fantastic we stayed on a few more days and did the long tow in one go.

"will you be allowed to get on site is it going to be after 12pm or is it before that time as no one is on the pitches. Can you imagine the queue to book in and get the pitch you want. and also the queue waiting. "

Past experience suggests that, no matter what time is set as "arrival time", there will be a queue of people who arrive before that time.

I could be wrong, but, I very much doubt it.

    Hi

There may be queues outside the (locked) gate who knows?. If people decide to block the public highway that is their choice. This is a unique situation for everyone so it's unlikely arrivals will be accepted before the advertised time. Might be wrong as it's way too early to say.

Like any sites and the access it is down to the site staff usually, as to whether access is flexiiblebe it the first day or on other days winkunless they have been given specific instructions  to not allow any one on site untill the advertised arrival times undecided

But in the first instance the guy/"lady" the just barges in will stick in there till a cubicle becomes vacant, disregarding social distancing, unless of course you have a "policeman"/warden on the door stopping that. Secondly are you going to be the one who reports the 20 stone, built like a brick s'house person to the warden, for him to take action against him?

I think it’s going to be very interesting to see what actually happens when the sites do open. Many people I’m sure are waiting to see what the situation is going to be like and there may well be lots of cancellations nearer the time. The difficulty at the moment is that the Government seems to be adding more restrictions each day. But all we can do is wait until closer to the date and decide then if it’s worth the effort to go. At the moment I’m tending to lean towards not bothering, I’ll probably stay at home until it all settles down

We booked months before Covid onto a private site in Cornwall to arrive 2nd July. Today they emailed to say they anticipate opening on 4th but almost certainly without access to the showers, toilets, kitchen and laundry. We only use the loo’s on occasions so it is not too much of a problem. Given supermarkets have their customer toilets open and places of work need staff toilets there must be examples of established regimes that can be copied put in place so customers can use some aspects of the facilities?
