Thanks, glad to see I was not the only one who thought otherwise. Last time I was in Salamanca was 2002!  The impressive architecture is Seville.

Yes! The Protestant Cathedral was demolished in the air raid. It was rebuilt using the original plans. We stayed in a 'campsite' in the suburbs which was essentially a couple of back gardens knocked together.

Can't remember the name.It was back in 2007 we did our Dresden, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Croatia ( on a whim) tour. The site was convenient for the tram into the centre.

    a quick technical observation....

using this old PC, when i quoted Chas' post, the picture was included, which surprised me as id not noticed this on the ipad/

trying the same thing on the ipad, the text is included but not the photo.

i had wondered why some posts included quoted pictures...

I've noticed that as well. However, some of my photos are on Google Photos or Flckr with active links. eg El Cid Location

BTW, BB, if you install Firefox on your old PC you will be able to drag and drop photos on Club Together. Did you know that it's not too late to upgrade tp Win 10 for free?

i dont know and cant place the Italian influence...

but, having seen some small chrches like this on the west coast of Denmark, i was thinking a 'scandinavian' influence arriving at our northern shores....

and knowing your penchant for the isles, id go along with Chas....

    Yes, it’s Orkney.

The chapel was built by Italian POWs and is formed from Nissen huts.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Chapel

Although the inside looks to be tiled, it is all hand painted and is beautiful.

The chapel overlooks one of the Churchill Barriers (now a Causeway) which was built by the POWs.

A lovely church, there are some photos available showing that it was part of a POW camp, now that is all that remains.
