Stuck in Portugal

Is anyone stuck in Portugal?. We have a Brittany Ferries reservation for 15th April, there seems to be nothing we can do except sit and wait and hope that ferries are re instated as planned on the 12th. Don't want to loose our original booking if it is likely to be honoured. Seems we cannot enter Spain without a definite exit date and exit ticket.

Is that for a homeward journey?

Many people are guessing that Brittany Ferries are unlikely to resume on 12th April and are making fresh reservations to get home by the tunnel or the ferries from Calais, and self isolate when they get back.

But if you possibly can get contact by e mail or twitter with Brittany Ferries they are the only ones who can tell you what the chances are of a resumed service by that April date.

    Good luck.

Nora Sharples on CCC Forum is still in Portugal until a week today, if I understood her post correctly. She has been told that you can book Eurotunnel online and then telephone the company to add dogs etc to the booking. Here is a cut & paste of most of her post:

'Apparently you can book it on line then email them to add the dog and they’ll take the extra payment. We’re thinking of using the vet down the road and then get on the road and just drive. We’re booked here now until Friday next week with no channel crossing as yet. '

EU citizens are allowed to transit EU Member States to get home and the EU President has confirmed that UK is regarded as an EU Member State for this purpose. En route accommodation might prove tricky and most who have posted have just driven almost non-stop for 2 or 3 days ...

Wanderers - Brittany Ferries have suspended ALL passenger sailings from both the UK and France, and although they say sailings will resume on the 13th April I would ake alternative plans just in case.

    Evening

We too were booked with BF on the 15/4. We've bitten the bullet and booked (online) a tunnel crossing next Thursday. We're leaving our site in southern Murcia on Sunday in convoy partly because we have nervous folks with us. You can get your reception to print off the required French travel declaration in case you get stopped, but by all accounts British reg. outfits are being waved along.

I will contact BF when we get back but by all accounts they will issue a travel voucher for future bookings. I have a crossing booked (hopefully) in September so happy days.

Don't attempt to travel without a tunnel booking or the declaration.

Just heard that some of the overnight stops have now been closed due to Brits partying together instead of showing isolation. Hey Ho, a selfish society we live in.

I'll try and update on here details where we stop off.

    Take Care

    Cheers and Thanks.

In the scheme of things a 2k kilometre drive with a convoy of camping and caravanning club members might be a laugh. There's far more challenging times for all ahead

    Stay safe
