Spain to UK ferry sailings cancelled

Brittany Ferries announced yesterday that they were cancelling sailings from Santander to Portsmouth throughout March and into early April.  At the time, it appeared that Bilbao sailings were still going ahead.  Tonight, it appears that things have progressed further and there is a Facebook post on Brittany’s page advising that all Spain to UK services will cease “very shortly” and not restart until at least the 9th April.  I can’t understand why ferry companies are not obliged to carry out repatriation services like airlines.  There must be thousands of passengers who would of been making those sailings home back to the UK and are now stuck.

Having seen the way that a lot of Brits are acting in Spain, I suspect they dont want to infect their staff

Last passenger service out of  Spain is at 2030 hours from Santander to Portsmouth on Saturday 21 March - no meals available on board and passengers asked to remain in their cabins. Some freight only sailings after that date.
