Switch your TV on Iain and listen to the news. People who are there are scrambling to get out.

We’re in Spain now - not actually caravanning though but we did drive here and came by ferry.  It’s not a pleasant place to be in all honesty.  “Lockdown” means far more than I ever anticipated.  It is akin to house arrest and loss of liberty is too high a price to pay.  Don’t for one second think that you will still be able to enjoy the sunshine - you are not actually allowed to be outdoors.  The police are patrolling and will fine you and even if you are lucky enough to dodge them, some local busybody tin-pot dictator will snap your picture and parade your image on local Facebook gossip sites for daring to go outside for a walk on an empty beach!  Dogs are now the new must-have fashion accessory because you are allowed to take them for a short walk - but not as a couple, only one person can walk the dog.  We haven’t tried to do any food shopping since the lockdown - but we’ve already read the rules and they involve only one of us going, being disinfected and we have been told the stores are only stocking limited lines and no fresh food unless it has already been pre-packed!

We have seen a lot of fury vented towards people who question the lockdown but I have to admit that until you fully experience the complete loss of liberty you cannot understand the anger it actually evokes.  It’s no good locking us away in an attempt to stop the virus if our world economy is completely broken when we re-emerge from our bunkers.

    Up the rebellion eh!

Of course there is always an alternative and that may be you never get to see how the world economy manages.

i booked an overnight stop for 14th April but have just had the below notification,

En raison de la crise internationale liée à l'épidémie de Coronavirus, le camping Les Acacias est désormais fermé jusqu'à nouvel ordre

basically it is saying they are closed due to Coronavirus until further notice. In the next sentence they said they would refund my money laughing

Had a call this morning from a friend telling me he was back home after a fruitless, and very expensive, trip to America to join a now cancelled cruise.

He got back yesterday and has friends in Torre Del Mar who want to travel back for the Easter holidays, they both run seasonal businesses, and they can’t as they are physically locked in the campsite.

    Maybe best to avoid Spain.

News from France is that you will have to print off an official government form and state why one is going out of the house - tick which applies from a list -e.g. I am visiting elderly relatives who need urgent help, I am collecting groceries from a defined shop on authorised list, I am going for medical treatment , etc.  Sign and date the form and be ready to show it to police outside.

Interestingly on the copy the BinL sent me, there is also the option for brief trips close to home, related to physical activity, excluding collective sport.

He says they haven't said wether only one can go shopping, or both.

Just been told we have to leave our site in Spain, 3 to 7 days, all sites in Spain to be closed and France likely to follow.

IanV8, you have a long haul ahead back to Scotland via the tunnel .

You might find some French camp sites open if you phone ahead, but you might have to stop  overnight at French motorway service stations - choose the bigger ones on the toll roads. Take enough food and water as you can for the journey.

Let us know it goes. We all wish you well.
