Coronavirus (COVID-19) European travel guidance (last updated 17/04/20 at 17:00)

Following the advice of our government to avoid all but essential travel, our team is helping members to amend their European holiday plans. As you can imagine our Contact Centre is extremely busy and we want to prioritise assistance to those members who are due to travel imminently. We ask that those with bookings for June and beyond, please do not contact us at the moment and we will be in touch shortly to discuss your options.

Our offices are closed so our Contact Centre team are all working at home but are here to support you as usual. Unfortunately, some of our suppliers aren't in the same position and have closed their telephone lines so we can only communicate with them by email. This has had a big impact on our response times and we ask members to please be patient with us during this unprecedented situation.

If you wish to amend your holiday we will be waiving Club amendment fees for all bookings regardless of European travel destination or travel date.

If you wish to cancel your holiday we will be waiving Club cancellation fees for bookings due to travel in April, May and June. Please note that while the Club is waiving our cancellation and amendment fees, there may still be charges from ferry companies/Eurotunnel and campsites that we will need to apply, we will do our best to work with suppliers to keep these to a minimum.

Eurotunnel and ferry companies are encouraging amendments to travel later this year or issuing vouchers which can be used against future travel.

Brittany Ferries have cancelled all passengers sailings until 15 May 2020 and whilst they are not refunding affected sailings, they are issuing vouchers to be used against travel within the next 2 years.

We`re pleased that the majority of our members have now returned home safely but a few have stayed in Europe and our recommendation to those members is to follow the advice of the local authorities and if you decide to start the journey home ensure that you have sufficient provisions and correct documentation for the trip. The French authorities have restricted movement to journeys that are absolutely necessary, note this does include returning to your home. If travelling through France it is necessary to complete a declaration certifying your reason for travel. The official form can be found here (https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Attestation-de-deplacement-derogatoire-et-justificatif-de-deplacement-professionnel). Please note you are able to handwrite your own signed version of the declaration if you are unable to access printing facilities.

We know that people are concerned about COVID-19 and we will continue to follow the travel advice issued by the UK Government through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Please be assured the safety and wellbeing of our members, and staff is of paramount importance to the Club. Please check this page for our latest updates: www.caravanclub.co.uk/whats-on/caravan-club-news/novel-coronavirus-advice/

UK Government Advice to British Nationals

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) continues to advise against all non-essential international travel to all destinations globally, for an indefinite period.

We have been prioritising members who are already in one of our Worldwide destinations or are due to travel with us between now and June.

If your travel is for a date from July onwards, we are currently expecting your holiday to proceed as planned. If that changes we will contact you at the time. We thank you for your understanding on this and ask that you don’t contact us at this time. Eurotunnel:

Currently, Eurotunnel and other ferry companies are continuing to operate but some have reduced their schedules, we recommend you check their websites or Social Media before travel for the most up to date information.

    Brittany Ferries:

Brittany Ferries have cancelled all passengers sailings between the UK / Ireland and France / Spain until 22 April 2020. We are working through sailings in date order and contacting affected members to discuss their options. If you are in Spain or France and want to return home as soon as possible we advise you travel via Calais as currently P&O, DFDS and Eurotunnel are continuing to operate.
