Venturapro S6450 CC edition - European Maps

Sorry, me again!  Has anyone had experience using the European Maps on the above-mentioned Snooper satnav please.  We’ve had our device for 7 years now and apart from a problem relating to the charger, which they sorted, it has never let us down in the UK and took us directly to the sites using  ‘CC guidebook’ option.  Now that we are going to venture into France/Spain, we will need to get the European Map which is £100, but wondered if they are as good as the UK maps and includes campsites within it?  Thanks in advance.

There are usually two elements to Sat navs. The maps and the POI's. You will probably have to seek out some POI's for campsites, the best would be "Archies"

Having said that I am rather surprised that the sat nav mentioned does not already come loaded with European maps?

I too have the Ventura pro, probably 5 years old, mine came with full UK & Europe maps with free upgrades for life. I have used it extensively in France & Spain and like DK i normally use Archies POI's or Alan Rodgers, I also use Google earth, using GE you can zoom into front entrance of any site and then put the Lat & Long into satnav, this way you can see what the entrance and surrounding roads look like before you arrive and your sat nav will take you directly to the site. Have you tried going to the Snooper upgrade web site and trying to download maps, you may have to register your device first and then you will know whether you are entitled to free map upgrades. You can also upgrade Archies/Alan Rodgers POI they have an online tools you can download to do this.

Thanks everyone for your help.  You’ve saved us £100!!

I’ve realised that we do in fact have the European maps on the satnav.  I did the standard free upgrade last night (which I assumed would just be UK) and when I switched it on this morning to look at it following your comments, I was asked if I wanted to update ACSI Campsite, Bordatlas Campsite and Camper Stop, which I had never been given the option before, following an upgrade.  I accepted each of those, so I know they are now up to date.  It didn’t ask about Alan Rogers though, even though I have got an icon for that.  The last version of that appears to be 06-2016.

I’ll try not to ask any more silly questions, but can’t promise.  Every day’s a school day. 😀
