Swapping a tow bar

I have just removed my 13 pin tow bar from my old 2011 Vauxhall insignia elite hatchback to a 2016 same model.

I am told it won't fit due to changes in depth of the new bumper.

Is this so and is their anything electrical I can salvage if I need a new one?

Does the caravan club recommend anyone,?

Can you not just do a trial fit and just hold your towbar in position against the new Insignia to check whether there's clearance or not?

The towbar manufacturer may be able to confirm safe fitment or not.

It may not only be a question of whether it will fit or not, but the old towbar may not be type approved for the newer car, making it an illegal combination.

    My thoughts as well, Lutz.

Why not check the towbar manufacturer’s part number for both cars on their website? That would quickly tell you if the towbar design has been changed between the two models.
