Crozon or Benodet caravanning
We are trying to decide which area is prettiest, Crozon or Benodet.
We like beaches, cycling and pretty villages, markets and harbours.
Any advice or recommendations on caravan sites, especially sites with sea view pitches. We are not fussy with regards to big water parks or entertainment, but love to cycle.
Many Thanks

For the coastline both are very nice. Crozon has rockier high cliffs with some spectacular coastal walks, but fewer nice towns. The coast from Fouesnant round to Benodet and then on towards Lesconil is flatter, sandier, charming and quintisentially "South Brittany". Depends what you like best. Google has plenty of nice pictures of both areas.
My favourite site is Camping Les Dunes at Lesconil. Most of the sites around Benodet are a bit big and "commercial".

Benodet is a large tourism resort - it has a sea front promenade with flower beds and street lamps, lots of shops and cafes, a big open beach with lifeguards, and a fleet of boats to take holifaymakers on sightseeing trips up the river.
The Crozon peninsula is heatherr covered hills, winding paths through bracken down to rocky coves, high cliffs, former fishing ports like Camaret, and a stunning surfing beach called the Plage de la Palue if you walk down though the sand dunes at the very far end.
In other words chalk and cheese. Your choice !

We stayed at both Benodet and the Crozon peninsular last June and enjoyed both immensely despite mixed weather.
Benodet is a splendid resort with a lovely tree-lined promenade and beach. It was nice and quiet in June with plenty of walks along the coastline. Catch the ferry across the estuary and there is a superb walk along an immense sandy beach to the charming village of Ile-Tudy where there are a number of restaurants for lunch.
We stayed 10 nights at Camping du Poulquer (ACSI) which is five minutes from the beach. Liked this site with its large, hedged emplacements, plenty of trees and clean facilities. Good indoor pool.Only downside was the friendly owner's liking of grouping Brits together including a small UK motorhome rally next to us although the site had only 30 per cent occupancy when we were there. Needed your own toilet rolls here! Only wi-fi access point was outside the bar which was never open when we were there. Good supermarket five minutes drive away and there is a bus to historic Quimper for a nice day out especially on market day. We would return to this site.
Stayed at Le Panoramic(ACSI again) at Telgruc-sur-Mer on the Crozon. This is an excellent site with with terraced grassy pitches giving fine views of Douarnenez Bay. About 7 of the 127 pitches were occupied at the time but a French man chose to site his caravan on the adjacent pitch below us thus blocking our view of sea and countryside. I think he sensed my annoyance and took his outfit on his mover to an equally good position across the road. Be warned here the approach road to the higher pitches is a bit steep requiring adequate pulling power but nothing that troubled us aside from a hot clutch. Nice heated pool and restaurant across the road at the site entrance. No bread on site but only a few minutes from a little supermarket/bakery in the village. Loved the beaches just down the road and the coastal path walks. Liked the nearby ports of Morgat and Camaret. Well-tended site we would recommend.
The previous autumn, stayed for 8 nights at Pors Peron (ACSI) at Beuzec-Cap-Sizun which is between the two sites mentioned. Quiet, neat, compact site looked after by a very helpful English couple. Facilities and pool first class.Sandy beach with enormous breakers a few minutes away. Handy for visiting spectacular Pointe du Raz. Supermarket and a range of cafes in historic Pont-Croix a few miles away and the start point for a walk along the estuary to Audierne for a fish lunch.
Three agreeable sites that were right for us pensioners outside the busy holiday period.
