Annency Sites and Lake

I have tried a search for Annency/sites and the only thread that appeared was one for 2014 without comments.    Does anyone have any experience of sites in Annency close to the town and within easy reach of the cycle track around the lake.   Would appreciate any information out there.   Thanks

A few years ago we had no problems finding a site near the cycle track. There were a number in the ACSI Camping Card book.

Have you tried visiting the ACSI website?

I cannot remember the name of the site but it was close to the lake and an easy cycle ride into Annecy. (I assume that is the town you mean.)

As well as searching with ACSI you can use UKCampsite.co.uk - the campsite search there will show you a map with about ten lakeside sites - with reviews for most of them.

Without wanting to offend you, it seems you may need a little help. Easy to do a google maps search. Use the search term campsites near Annecy France and they all show up. Use the satellite image to see the cycle path, but around the lake the cycle path is nearby.

You could use the ACSI website, or Searchforsites.

More sites than you can shake a stick at. I'm still trying to decide which one to pick.

Hi, I recently posted, thread two in PDs post above, but was looking for recommendations due to the large number of sites.

I started by looking at the ACSI website, Campingfrance.com and a Google maps search for ‘campsites’ when looking at the Annecy  area. Streetview is also very useful for checking access.

The cycle path appears to have good access and a Google search re bike routes also gave good results.

Thanks all for very helpful information.   Having looked through ACSI and sites through the internet I had two possibles - Camping Europa - as has been recommended - and also Le Belvedere a municipal site at the north end of the lake but which seems very close to Annecy.   Whilst the 9kms bike ride from Europa is not a problem we were possibly looking for the impossible for a site within walking distance of Old Annecy as whilst there we would like to do Le Plateau du Semnoz trail and also take a bus to Chambery.   With Europa not sure whether we will be too early for the boat transfers at end of April but will contact the site to establish whether there is a convenient bus to Annecy close to the site.   Thanks again.

If you are young and fit, like us (in our dreams!) Le Belvedere is good and we used it (caravan).

With the right pitch you do get some great views BUT maps don't show it is above the lake with a VERY  steep route down to Annecy (recommended) so if you decide you want to be close to the town, be prepared for a hard ride/walk back up.
