EHIC renewal
be careful if you have to renew, had forgotten mine was up for renewal, received email from
EHIC processing team
PO box 122 Windermere
LA23 9BD
advising me that mine was about to expire and to go to https://e111.org.uk to renew, which i dutifully did, site looks genuine, it is only after you have filled in all your details does it ask for £19.99, and it was only at this stage did i smell a rat, and aborted everything and went to the real NHS site where it is free to renew. A bit scary to know that this organisation has access to records showing when your card is up for renewal, anybody else had similar ? I have to say there is a paragraph at the bottom of the email advising you can get a renwed card FOC by going to the NHS

I am not sure if they are privy to any information about yours running out. They may well be purely speculative as in the case of the bank scam ones. We have had them for banks we don't have accounts with as well as ones we do. If you send enough speculative ones out, you are bound to get lucky. As they keep doing it I would assume they get lucky enough times to make it worthwhile.

I've not had this email but coincidentally have just renewed my EHIC card.
These days I'm afraid I treat everything that is unsolicited, even if it seems to be 'right', as a scam.
I recently had phone calls purporting to be from Amazon telling me that my Prime account was about to expire but they have already taken the renewal money from my account. "Press 1 to speak to someone if you want a refund". The strange thing is that I had accidentally joined Prime but immediately cancelled my membership so no money had been paid to them. Apparently this is a scam known by Amazon and absolutely nothing to do with them.
