strange....all the news outlets i have read over the last week are reporting on what will happen after 31st Dec 2020, but they are all giving different angles to what will or will not be required, I think when the going gets tough countries like Spain will not be creating too much fuss as a vast amount of their income is provided by UK expats/tourists.

Even if after 31 Dec 20 nothing is sorted I don’t think it will be too onerous as we managed perfectly well prior to the EU.  I lived in a number of European and International countries and never had a problem travelling

Apart from carrying a green card and showing my passport more frequently, I don't recall much difference in the "old days".

Surely all the article is doing is providing a list of possible problem areas between now and the future if they are not resolved correctly. Of course it won't stop anyone travelling to EU countries but if these issues are not resolved they could prove to be an extra inconvenience to a lot of people especially it seems to pet owners. The problem for those wanting to visit Europe for leisure is that it's probably a low priority from the Government standpoint, especially given the very tight deadline they have set themselves.

I decided to play it safe  as we're going to Spain and France in a few weeks time so I ordered a Green Card on Monday from my insurer and both (one for car and one for caravan) arrived yesterday. No charge. So I can't see too much to get worked up about as I don't have a pet but can see a few problems for those owners. Then again it's better than the old days where 6 months quarantine was the norm.

They didn't say anything David as it was all done on their website. I just decided to take them as there was no charge for the 6 week trip. Very effecient of the insurer, particularly as my renewal isn't for a couple of weeks yet but I decided to renew as premium virtually unaltered and I've been happy with their website. Did speak to them once and they were just as good then.

We're undecided about IDPs, particularly as I need passport photos. May leave them until next year to see if they're needed.

Just had an email from our MH insurer Comfort. They say that all the benifits of our policy are available, without a green card and none is required in the EU, until at least 31/12. What happens after that will depend on what is negotiated in the comming months.

Nowadays so many people cross country borders every day the systems have to be smooth and seamless to cope with the numbers.

Crossing into Switzerland, only a 5 minute delay to buy 2 x vignettes.

PS. as I've said previously we already have a hard border to leave reenter the UK with our continental cousins, we always go through immigration at all departure and arrival points, so how much more difficult they going to make it
