Google will give you the two nearest, but beware if you have dogs - neither campsite will accept them.

The number of times this question crops up as well as for other ferry terminals is very frequent. Why not create a sticky for a thread headed, "Sites near Ferry Terminals"

Sorry I cannot help you RL, I tend to use crossing which arrive with enough time to get well away from ferry ports for the first night.

We have used Cabo Mayor in Santander a couple of times.  Fine for a night stop and very convenient for the ferry.  Not sure if it accepts dogs.

Hi, Ron. Your ferry gets into Santander at 14.15 and it shouldn’t take long to get out of the port area and on your way. So it really depends on how far you want to drive and in which direction.
And if you were to “hide” your dogs in the ‘van on an overnight stopover you wouldn’t be the first 😱. Not that I would ever suggest or consider doing so of course!

    😊

2 border collies. He mentioned them on a previous post regarding the same trip.

    Just as well!

Ron, Caravaning Oyambre suggested above take dogs in low season.

Camping Oyambre is actually closed for a good part of the low season - from 20 October to 6 March.

    Hi

We travelled from Plymouth to Santander last September and due to a 6 hour delay departing Plymouth, we arrived at Camping Laredo (Acsi accepted) at 9 pm. I was worried that reception may have been closed and we may not be able to get on our pre-booked pitch (no deposit necessary).

Thankfully, the little bar/restaurant is open until 10 30 pm and the staff are able to open the barrier and reception office and booked us in. Its a lovely little site , not far from the Bilbao-Santander dual carriageway. It has a nice little pool, supermarket, as well as the bar/restaurant. Good clean toilets and showers.  We enjoyed a drink and a snack before we retired. We were able to drive on our pitch and not unhitch which made for a quick getaway to Zaragossa, the next morning. The site is easy to get to from Jct 172 off S10/A8 but I would suggest you use google maps so that you can be aware of the waypoints.

    This was my route:

From Jctn. 172 take slip road to the roundabout.

Take exit after Lidl into town (over bumps) and past childrens playground on left.

Turn left at traffic light junction (there is a small yellow campsite sign at the very bottom of  the main signpost at this junction).

Take 2nd left after hospital and site is at the bottom of the road  to the  left of the fork) Easy !
