Travelling to southern Spain
We're thinking of travelling to southern Spain for five weeks either in June or September and would be glad of any advice/recommendations of sites/places to see.
We fancy travelling via the Portsmouth - Bilbao ferries as it seems equitable/quicker than travelling through France towing on toll roads?
We like the look of Andalucia and, in particular the Cadiz area. Any views on the Club sites at La Rosaleda, Valdevaqueros or any others in this area would be of great assistance.
Many thanks in anticipation of your replies.

You say you plan to travel June or September. June will be hot and unless you have air-conditioning in your van then you may find it too hot. We were in the Costa del Sol in September 2019 not far from Marbella and without A/C it was very uncomfortable at night - notwithstanding the mosquitos.
Nobody has mentioned an ACSI card - well worth getting for the discounts available in June or September. April and October would be better months with still plenty of sunshine.
Happy travels

I don't know if you are into the history of Spain but my blog covers where we went in our six weeks there in November 2017. Cadiz had record temperature of 42 degrees in June and 39 in September so can you cope with that? The 42 days we travelled around in November/December we had 37 days of sunshine.

When we have visited the area you are interested in we have stayed at >Camping Las Dunas< just ouside Puerto Santa Maria. Its on the beach and you can walk into Santa Maria, an intersting town and the home of the Osborne distillery.. On route you pass the ferry terminal for ferries across the bay to Cadiz which is well worth a visit.
Another place of interest is Jerez, the Sherry and horse capital of Spain which is located about 16Kms north of Puerto de Santa Maria and a visit here to the Royal School of Equestrian Art is a must in our view. We obtained directions to the Real Escuela de Andalucia and found this to be close to the Sandeman bodega which had easy motorhome parking to the rear. We visited Sandeman's on one day and booked for the following days horse show by phone. The visit to the bodega was excellent. Even if you don't like horses, I would be surprised if you are not impressed with the demostration of riding skills on view.
I think there is also a train service from Santa Maria to Jerez.
