Hi all, I am Looking for any helpful information & advice. We are planning a 6 week trip for 2020 (towing a caravan), to Poland, the ferry is booked for a mid May departure to the Hook of Holland. We want to visit Amsterdam, travel through Germany to Berlin, & cross the border into Poland at Szczecin near the Baltic coast, before heading East to Pila. I don't want to burden you with why this particular destination, but I will say it's a kind of WW1 pilgrimage. We do have experience of long trips, in 2012 we did an 11 week tour from Coquelles (euro tunnel), into Belgium, and Brugges, through southern Germany to Austria, down into Italy, then Monaco, and France-Provence, Carmargue, Carcassone, & then dawdled up the west coast back to Coquelles, and arrived back home 2 days before the start of the 2012 London Olympics. 5360 miles, door to door.

We plan to follow the Autbahns from Amsterdam to Berlin, and then up to Szczecin in Poland. If any of you helpful & knowledgeable folk have any tips, good places to visit, good campsites etc., in any of the countries for our 2020 trip, please feel free to comment, all advice and recommends will be greatfully recieved.

Sounds like a good trip. We've holidayed around the Berlin area and also up near Szczecin and  on the German side. I don't know what interests you so can't really comment about things to see as we went for nature watching. Had a good holiday in the Brandenburg area doing lots of birdwatching and cycling. Also the compulsory tour to Potsdam, which if truth be known was a bit too touristy for us.

The area in the North East of Germany was again for birdwatching, cycling and walking with a bit of sightseeing. We stayed at Griefswald and travelled up to Rugen Island and also to Pennmunde on Usedom. Both Rugen and Pennemunde hold interest for anyone looking for visiting places associated with WW2, rather than WW1. We did stop at the campsite in Szczecin but didn't like it that much. We worked our way down the River Oder, nipping in and out of Germany and Poland. Great for the things we like.

Sorry I can't be more specific but at least this post will help push your thread back up and somebody else may help you more.

    Hope you enjoy your trip.

Is it your intention to stay in or near Berlin on your trip for a few days? It is a fascinating City, with lots of obvious history!  We have been twice and stayed at two different sites which I will post details of if it is of  interest to you.

We went to Poland last year in June and had a great time. It started with the Hook crossing and 3 nights in Barendrecht with a cycle ride to the 19 windmills at Kinderdjk which were well worth a look. There was a pause at Gauda befor on Saturday we 'went for it' across Germany with a quick pit stop in Hamelin to see the Pied Piper. The roads were largely lorry free. The further east one goes, the worse the roads seem to get..... We crossed the border at Szczecin and found the first site we could. It was a 25 min bike ride into the city which is worth a look. Then onwards towards the main 'Lake District' but we came on Charzkowy and stayed by the lake there. Cheilno was very pretty then up to the Baltic coast of Sopot and Gdansk. We did a 'dog leg' down to Swiebodzin to see the huge statue of Christ before heading back to Holland. One thing we found in Polish camp site was there isn't usually one or all of: toilet roll, hot water, soap, or sometimes even water to fill ones tanks - so be prepared. You will however find it very good value with some stunning scenery. Apart from Holland, we didn't pre - book anything and just 'winged it' as it was June. Have a great trip.
