It has often been pointed out that taking four site night vouchers can sometimes actually reduce the price of some ferry crossings with Brittany Ferries - yet it has always seemed tedious to have to get two separate prices, first with and then without those vouchers. Perhaps there was a short cut to do that which I never found.
But even now I still canot instinctively see that the new Booking system immediately gives me those two prices - with and without site night vouchers - side by side. Did I not look at it carefully enough? Am I a slow learner?

I noticed that it wasn't able to search for a "nearest to chosen" date for a ferry crossing so if no ferry going to say Santander fro Portsmouth on a Tuesday it wouldn't default to a Monday or Wednesday.
I think I would still prefer to speak to the excellent Overseas staff on the phone who will automatically search for this.
Like EuroT there doesn't seem to be the facility to include Cheques by quantity rather than picking sites.

I'm still trying, but finding another problem.
If I use Brittany Ferries own site I choose a route (in my case because of where I live it is Plymouth/ Roscoff) and I put in a date. That website gives me the price for that day for that route - and if I scroll forward or backward it gives me other prices for other days over the whole season. It does the same for a range of return dates. I pick the ones I want and add them together.
The new Club booking system only seems to give the price for the one single day I have chosen. I can't seem to see the price for the next day or the previous day to see whether they are cheaper or dearer. I can't see separate outward and inward prices separately to make my selection.
What the Club does give me is a comparative price for ferries from places like Newhaven. But I am not a bit interested in driving from Cornwall to Newhaven. I would just like a range of prices with and without site vouchers for a range of days from Plymouth.
Am I still doing it wrong?

Hi Rowena, I tried out the system on my laptop but could not see how to add vouchers so emailed the travel dept and got this reply;
You are able to book ferries sites and overseas site vouchers from today, these are called a combined deal and the new system will bring up the best deal for you.
So, how do you get a combined deal-I have tried several ways, and had different end results??
Do you need to add vouchers and, if so, how?
Do you need to select a combined deal and, if so, how?
I have just been trying in my iPad and it’s no clearer.
Thanks.

Hi AllanandJean,
As you can imagine the new software is bedding in and will be a work in progress over the next week or so. Currently you would need to search for the Overseas Site night vouchers in the sites section. If you select Calais as the location and the dates you wish to travel, search then select “search for Nearby Campsites” then at the top of the list will be the Overseas site night vouchers. It will automatically be set for 4 vouchers, which you can change if you wish to purchase more. Add them to your basket then go on to select your Ferry.
Thanks
Tracy

Tracy, your IT team have gone into labour and given birth to a donkey.
I ask your booking engine for a quote fromPortsmouth to Caen on a date when I know there are three sailings on that route. Your new system shows me a price for one of those three sailings but not the other two. Other people might not even know there are two other sailings.
Instead your new system shows me additional quotes for sailings to all sorts of other ports which I never asked for. I don't want to go to Dieppe. I simply want to compare the three sailings to Caen on that day - and also to see whether the prices for nearby days on that route would be different.
Was this system trialled with a panel of members before going live?

i have only used the overseas booking service once in the last ten years but thought I would have a look at the new system so tried to make a booking for Eurotunnel in April 2020. It don't work using W7 and Firefox V 70.0, it won't let me put in the size of my motorhome.

Ok spotted my error, you have to be logged on to make it work! It would have been better to totally deny acces to the booking system if not a member or not logged on with a prompt to that effect..
Gave a good price once I got there, food for thought.

I do notice that it only allows me to use the vehicle registered with the Club. That is all well and good but if I add my towball bike rack to the motorhome the length changes to under 9 meters instead of 8 meters and won't allow me to define this revised length.

W7 tut tut!, could you not delete/de-register your current vehicle and then re-register with revised length, bit of a faff but I have done this previously on another booking site., this could be totally not what you can do as I have never used this clubs site.

Eurotraveller, you got it in one - a donkey and a blind one with only 2 legs, its painfully slow on my laptop.
I have used the old system for years without any issues - talk about if it aint broke dont fix it.
I'll give a few weeks to bed in

Thanks for flagging this up Martatin, I have had a look and can see that we seem to be having issues getting the prices back from P&O Ferries. I have passed this onto our tech bods to look into so please do keep trying, hopefully it's just teething troubles

I wish I'd booked in October on the old system

Hi Rowena,
Just tried the system out by looking to book the ferry crossing I had already booked before the site system changed.
Initial thoughts and findings:
Put 4 overseas vouchers into my basket then looked at finding the ferry crossing I wanted. Found it and it gave some other options for comparison. Would have liked it to include other time options on the same crossing as well as other crossings.
Told me it may be able to discount the fare if I selected a package. Thought I had already done this as I had 4 night vouchers in my basket. When adding the ferry I had to type in my details and it looked like I needed to make payment. Couldnt get back to the basket with the added ferry crossing to see if my price had gone down with the addition of the site night vouchers. It seemed to want me to select individual sites which I don't want to do. Pop up regarding travelling before or after certain dates made me select new search - wasting time and confusing me, is this where the site night vouchers are lost as the site seems to want me to pick actual sites?
Glad I have already made my booking as this system will not give me the faith that I have explored all the available options and got the best deal - would be ringing in to discuss options with the booking team which is not I'm sure what the club wants.
Not normally one to complain so glad of this opportunity to aire my views which hopefully will be of assistance

Hi Kenny, I used the link in bold at the end of Rowenas OP to make similar comments.
As Euror said it’s a pain being shown just the one result from the route you specify and options that are of no interest.
If you click on a site on the map it then shows vouchers but why you can’t just select them is not clear. When I have managed to get vouchers selected then add the ferry the price does reduce, that’s on a crossing where I know that will happen, as it says it will if a ‘combined deal’ is available.

well, thay didnt last long...
ive just tried this system out and i get a message asking to select route (fairly obvious) but couldnt see where...
however ive just spotted that its covered by a 'non member, join here' box yet im already logged in and it knows my vehicle details...
not good
edit, tried again....box there and then disappeared....hmmm...odd.

having 'booked' a return to cherbourg it told me there was a deal pending and to get four night vouchers....no way of adding them after the crossing booking...(this has always seemed odd to me that you need to add vouchers before the deal comes up....surely add them after the system tells you that you will benefit by adding them ??
so....start again, add vouchers (seemed to be on old system and can see them in tne basket) start ferry search for Jan 2020... now system switches to new system....basket is now empty...diffferent baskets?
managed to add crossing....check basket, no voichers but system tells me i can benefit by adding vouchers....
no wonder ive only ever booked a single crossing....this can seriously damage your health.
and as others have said, no choice of same crossing close to date selected but useless info regarding crossings miles away..
truly awful.

Agree, although we won't be booking till the last minute, I thought I would have a look. We pretty much know what route we want, it would just be a case of seeing what's available around our preferred date. Brittany ferries ( our carrier of choice) certainly allows you to do that. The CC system selects routes for the same date, often miles away and totally unrelated. Plymouth Roscoff came up when my primary search was for Poole Cherbourg. The cost saving would have to be immense to make that worthwhile.😂
