Is there anything wrong with that? I have probably said this before but wouldn't that also be an advantage to those of you who would prefer a grass pitch as you would be free to book the type of pitch that suits you?

yes, that's could be used for those with bookings, but if these become less crowded, cheaper no frill jobs, there may be more 'just turn up' customers.....pay and stay.

You are incorrect. It is 6m between adjacent walls of any caravan/MH and 3m between outfits. They are different things.
There is alwalys 3m from your car/awning to the next. No skewing allowed. As I said 3m is quite a good separation.

Although there would be upfront costs, I would like to see the membership cards have chips in. These would not need to be replaced every year, just the fact you had paid for another year made known to the computer. On wardened sites these could be programmed to act as your barrier card for the duration of your stay, replacing all the current cards / fobs. On an unwardened site they could be charged up online with credit. The barrier would let you in on arrival and debit your card when you leave. Admittedly over here, but we are using a similar card to access a chain of Aires. The card cost 4€, so they can not be that expensive to produce. The CC would of course have a saving from replacing the annual card and replacing the existing key fobs when they wear out or are lost.

On non fac sites there would not be the need for permanent wardens, so potential cost savings there. On sites with facilities there would be no change, other than the fact the barrier fobs could be gradually phased out as sites are refurbished / barriers updated. I'm not saying it should / could happen overnight but we are well into the 21st century. Replacing the annual cards must cost a fair bit, surely a card that can just be updated and perhaps have a 5 / 10 year life depending on wear and tear is worth considering.

I am thinking that some of the folks proposing barriers, card entry have never been to Nunnykirk. It really is out in the wilds, not somewhere close that a local can pop across and fix. Then there are the one’s that will get stuck on the grass, run out of gas, trip the bollard........

There are two sites in fairly close proximity in the west country?one being non facility?in the past the club tried to run the non facility site as a satellite, with staff running it from the bigger site,,visiting each day to check it,, I do not think it worked, not sure what happens now

Aurtomated barrier control and charging is well proven technology. It is nothing new. I have used in countless car parks, aires, Channel Tunnel, and Continental sites. The Club just needs to make a leap of faith, it could even save wardens check in operations on manned sites.
There is a trailer running on TV at the moement about a forthcoming program on Japan and it shows what I think is automated reception desks in hotels!

How many times have we heard than systems that work well elsewhere couldn't possibly work on a CAMC site. When someone suggests using cleaners for site toilets the response is always" wouldn't work only wardens can clean to the standard required- well I am currently on a CAMC site and they are using cleaners!!!

As was pointed out at a meeting at our county police HQ the anpr camera's installed at other than on roads in the UK have no real legal requirement to be able to correctly identify vehicle number plates so rarely have good software installed,
We have twice now not found our number when going to pay to exit car parks ,first was Tesco at Stevenage and last month in the car park at Lepe country park in Hampshire, Tesco had staff to deal with it, a 24hr store and the park only had staff on until 1700 the park closed a dusk?

Willingcott had a refurb a few years back and is still a good site. We were there last month.
