There's nothing wrong with "adult only" sites, by the way, I just wouldn't want them to be part of the club's offering
maybe not , but "Tranquil" sites are now a very big niche market, and some club sites, such as Bingham, fit the bill perfectly.

not privey to the reasons why they sold, but on the occasions that we visited it was always very busy and they had just completed an extension programme offering more pitches, with, i have to say some stunning views, and the dog walking facilities were excellent, maybe the club made them an offer they could not refuse, and maybe it was an area the club thought they were lacking in presence, so a generous offer was made, who knows. I should also say that most of the business looked to be repeat business, judging by the number of recognisable faces.

no you are not the only one....we actually prefer empty sites although we know its not good for business, and in the main we check out an area, if we like it we find a site that suits our needs, pay and enjoy our selves, no we are not rich, just careful OAP's

we like it quiet, too...
we are leaving this CL tomorrow and the numbers have gone down...
one couple had to leave early as their mother was taken ill
another (older) couple only arrived on Wednesday and left on Thursday afternoon. Wednesday was the bad weather day for us in Hampshire and their awning got broken. they had obviously been finding caravanning a struggle and this was the final straw....they decamped to a hotel and said they were giving up vanning
..and then there were three...

If"quirky"means lack space between pitches in the top pitches no waste facilities especially in the lower pitching area and the lack of motor caravan waste point and the chemical emptying point?then I could think of a more fitting word or words

I am not sure I would bother with Bingham Grange as it seems to be in the middle of nowhere! However I think Cayton Village will be a gold mine when they update it. As you say I think there will be opportunities to add facilities similar to Seacroft and Hillhead We were there in the third week of June this year. and that is what camping/caravaning was founded on minamalistic sites, low cost but somewhere were people could get away for a couple of weeks, yes like you, probably, I do like sites with lots of clean modern facilities, but have visited Bingham on several occasions, no problems, and yes it is in the middle of nowhere, but very few sunblockers for the reasons you have mentioned, love it.

Caton Bay looks good, but i notice the lack of punters for 3rd week in June, but i guess people are spoilt for choice in the Scarborough/Whitby area as a whole, and June is still out of peak season. Remember staying in a converted railway carriage in Scarborough with the children many years ago, happy days, we used to call it "up market Blackpool", no offence to anybody from Blackpool.

we cycled up for a gander from a CL in Burton bradstock and it is on a busy road, although there is a (lengthy) footpath from the site across fields into Bridport.
the site had omly just been taken over by the club when we visited and I thought it looked fine, certainly not in need of a 'club makeover'...
we will try it for a day or two when next in the area but the local CS and THS puts you within a few hundred yards of Burton village and the SW coast path to westbay.

from my perspective agree, it is just fine, but it is a long way from what a lot of club members expect e.g. toilets/showers are clean and functional but they are sort of grouped around the central main building which is also the reception, restaurant upstairs etc, some pitches are small and difficult to get into, although my MM was broken and i reversed a 7.3m unit in no problems, not bragging. MH facilities were limited or non existant. Depending on which pitch you were on facilities such as fresh/waste water were some distance away but meeting up with others doing the trek always makes for a more social feeling to the site. The previous owners had a range of staff carrying out all the usual functions, cleaning, reception, gardening, restaurant staff, not sure how the club would staff the site as it is not what you call easy maintenance, also i think there are some holiday cottages adjacent to the site, not sure if club bought these as well, maybe warden accomodation. Not sure re bus service, have not seen one in the vicinity which again would make it not very MH friendly as it is a good trek into Bridport
