hi

driving from calais, and looking to stay near Epernay for a couple of days, the muni site nearest town only allows up to 6 m vehicles

any other sites near so we don't have to drive, champagne and driving don't mix

thanks

Might be worth an email to the site. I came accross one similarly labelled in the northern Rhone, in a town where we particularly wanted to stay. Looking on streetview there were clearly   larger vehicles present. Sent them our size, at the time 6.5 m and they emailed back that there was no problem unless we had a twin axle. Site was fairly tight but no problem with power mover. There was a sign on the gate saying nothing over 6.0m but I would estimate it applied to no more than a handful of those present.

The Alan Rogers page certainly has that mention of a 6 metre limit and yet there are reviews from people who say they went there with motorhomes over 7 metres length. It may just be a municipal site wanting to keep travellers out.  I should e mail the campsite to check - it's camping.epernay@free.fr

We last stayed there in 2007 so information is probably a bit out of date but the pitches are capable of taking larger units. A 6 metre limit would rule out a lot of motorhomes!

We've used many sites in France which have had a nominal 5m length limit. I have asked more than once but the answer is always "don't worry, that doesn't apply to you". I suspect the rule is so that the management has the right to turn away visitors that they deem (however unreasonably) problematic.

Having said that, an email would be worth while.

No idea why this has appeared multiple times - apologies. Can the admins remove duplicates?

Moderator Comment - I think you may have broken a record there Ianwink No idea what caused it but nothing surprises me about this website!

The site seems to be acting up a bit at the moment, probably due to that and the Gremlins in the works.😀

We stopped here last year in our Motorhome 7+ meters long.

Plenty of space to manoeuvre. Bus stop outside the gate, enjoy the Champagne.

Went there last year big pitches, lots of A classes on site so no problem for you, nice helpful staff on reception, short walk into town, a rubbish market when we were there. But a nice place for a night or two. Enjoy the fizz. 👍
