Agree with your suggestion to check racecourse site for yourself, doesn't always work though.

We once had a very noisy night at Thirsk racecourse due to a festival in the park next door. Nothing on the club website about it or on the racecourse site either.

Music wasn't to bad actually it was the noise of folk leaving that was much worse as it seemed to go on for hoursfrown not what you want night before the ferry.

I can't really understand the way this thread has gone. There are some posters who are quick to back up recent criticisms of wardens at club sites (mainly when they haven't been able to get away with "special" treatment) yet seem to try to belittle this OP because they are not happy about a different aspect of their stay. Takes all sorts I suppose - personally this music might not have been an annoyance to me but I think the OP has every right to express their discontent. undecided

Long last bedtime, was it? This really is a Club for old people.

Perhaps - but three of the "tribute night" bands at The National Rally had much of the audience dancing in the aisles, so much so that there were Tannoy announcements to the effect that those sitting at the back could not see the stage!

    Afternoon

I ran Exeter site for a season and it was very frustrating. The jockey club put on many events throughout the year next to our site but don't always inform us of anything that might affect our paying customers. I've woken up some weekends to the noise of artic trucks rumbling past my door to set up stages for music events, people setting up fun runs next to our toilet block and many other unexpected things. It's their land, they do as they please I guess.

The hippy site was removed in 2015 (an interesting day), but we never had any bother from those occupants. They were just folk with a different lifestyle. They used to walk through the site on a Sunday afternoon to go to the bootsale but they were always respectful, put dogs on leads and were happy for a chat, even popping in to buy an ice cream. There's an official traveller site there now which stands half empty.

We helped the clean up after the other traveller types had visited. Not a good experience at all.

So, it's still a great place for a stay as many will testify, but we don't always know what's going on around the racecourse. Race days however are a brilliant time.laughing

I guess one person’s dream is another’s nightmare. If that’s the way the OP feels, that’s fine by me.
