I've just been reading of the flooding on the major rivers in Yorkshire this weekend. I noticed that both a Knaresborough Caravan site and the riverside properties in York have a flood alert. Does anyone know if either or both of the club's sites have had to be evacuated?

I suspect Rowntree Park must be on alert, it looks imminent. Certainly showing as a flood alert. Nothing on Club Site page though. Not sure about Knaresborough area, will see if I can find anything. Some pretty full rivers round us, and all the others end up in the Ouse.

There were TV pictures of the Ouse at York tonight, it looked very high but not flooding.

I'd not seen the news today, so only found out about it on another forum.

I don't think that Knaresboough would be in any danger it's quite a steep walk down to the river.

Site page fork York now shows.

Due to heavy rain the approach road is currently under water and the site is being evacuated. Please check with the site staff before travelling.

Told you. It’s odds on if other areas of Yorkshire are flooding York will cop it. Most rivers go into Ouse. Not sure who posts warnings, but that could have gone up last night IMHO.

Doubt if they are talking about the Knaresbough site, more likely the other non CAMC site near town.

The report just said that it was Knareborough Caravan Site that was affected. As I've never visited the CC's site there I'm not familiar with it's location. There must be another caravan site down by the river that was likely to be flooded.

It’s the area lower than the town, along the River Nidd. Floods on a regular basis. I believe the Club Site is up the hill.

I've had enough of flood alerts this week. During the Boxing Day floods of 2015 my parents house was knee deep in flood water from the River Irwell so when the alert came we drove an hour & half home for the night. Needless to say we never saw a drop of rain when we got there. 😄

I am guessing it’s the Lido Leisure Park that is flooded, rather than Club Site, which is up at Scotton. The Leisure Park is in a delicious little loop of the River Nidd. Picturesque, but oh so vulnerable. Bad news for some sadly.

Not to know though, MM. The Motorway by Bury was closed for a while due to the flooding.

I was talking about the Club site which is about a mile out of Knaresborough at Scotton. We've walked into the town via the path across the river a number of times and it would take a flood of biblical proportions to affect the site.

That was partly why we drove  back home on the premise that it'd have been easier to help from 2 miles away than 50 miles. 😉👍
