We’ve been to south and east Poland a few times in both September and April and found sites open. I imagine the same can be said for the coastal area too but that area is still on our To Do list. In our experience the people are incredibly friendly and the food excellent. Road surfaces can be a bit challenging in some of the more remote areas.
Depending on which route you take there are some excellent sites around Dresden, Boutzen and the Saxon region of Germany near to the Polish border.
The weather in the areas we’ve been to has always been warm and sunny during the day but the early mornings and evenings are chilly towards the end of September in common with most of Eastern Europe.
I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time.

We've never been in September, always in May and then mainly near the German border following the River Oder. Roads away from main arterial routes are great for cycling but not so good for driving!
People very friendly and food and drink fairly cheap. We went for the wildlife not the Wild Life and enjoyed it.

We went through Southern Poland in August 2012. Starting at Dresden as Dave Nicholson suggested above, we crossed to Jelenia Gora, then Krakov and finally Zakopane before moving south to Slovakia. Sites were good, roads a bit rough in places. Krakow is a must see city. You can get the full story on or blog here

We went to Poland in 2008 via Austria, Hungary and Slovakia mainly to visit Auschwitz and the Salt Mines. We stopped on a nice campsite just outside Krakow http://www.camping-korona.com.pl/

We are going to Southern Poland and crossing over the high Tatra’s to Slovakia. Ferry from Harwich to Hook, through Germany to SE of Berlin then into Poland. Have only got a rough idea at the moment as that may all change if we decide to go to the Baltic States.
PS we will go in July/August

We are also heading for Poland this June, crossing from Harwich, seeing relatives in Germany and then heading towards Warsaw., But still working on the route, however apart from Germany and the last night in Holland we plan to book as we go.
One question, we weigh in at 3750kgs gvw, which I believe means a viatoll dashboard device, is it correct that we can pick these up at the border, if so where - as i assume theres no border control.?
