You can stay safely, for £5, on the dockside. It has toilets, shower etc. It also has a basic cafe which opens about 6 in the morning. The club site at Rookesbury Park, Wickham has ferry pitches, you have to ring the site to book one.
Hope this helps

We always stay at the ferry terminal, good clean toilets, safe and very handy for early ferry to France and after late arrival from France. Always a few other caravans and MHs there and it is legal, see the link above on BF web site.

Hi, it looks like you have a long journey so may prefer a site but you can, as said, stay on the port.
We have stayed at both the club site, Hunters Moon, and at South Lychet which is closer and, as the ferry is at 0830 and allowing for check in, would not want to be any further away. We once had to change plans at short notice after realising that although the journey time from site to port was OK the site gate did not open soon enough for us to get there on time!

as A&J and Bill have said, why bother to be anywhere else when the ferry goes at 8:30.
similarly, with your long trip back, stop at the port for a nice kip and begin your trip in the morning nicely refreshed...
will be there in less than two weeks myself.
